Bought some Aperol on clearance at Sam's for $8. We tried an Aperol spritz but didn't like it at all

Any recommendations before I dumb it?

If you have Instagram, follow @join_jules. She makes fantastic cocktails, and a lot of them are Aperol based.

on the spritz…try it with a dry white wine instead of the prosecco. Aperol, wine, soda with an orange slice. You can also muddle the orange before mixing with a drop or two of bitters

much better cocktail, prosecco is too sweet

I’ll also go aperol and soda with a lemon, when I’m out of Campari

There's a great website Kindred Cocktails that you can use to search for ideas. Select sort by ingredient and display coctail names and ingredients. Type aperol into the ingredient field and click find. You can add additional ingredients to refine your search.

I don't care too much for Aperol, but I like bourbon. So, an Old Money is the direction I would go in.

Three suggestions

1. Paper Plane
2. Bird of Paradise
3. Naked and Famous

Give the spritz a 2nd chance. Cut the amount listed on the label by 50%. Use a highly carbonated prosecco. Prosecco is artificially carbonated; fizziness varies with the brand. If you want a lighter summer drink mix 2/3 prosecco with 1/3 club soda.

My wife prefers Campari spritz... less sweet. I like Select spritz, but Select aperitif is hard to find.

Boulvardier
Equal parts bourbon, sweet vermouth, and aperol.

A Boulevardier is made with Campari, not Aperol. You can substitute it, but that would be a different drink.

Spaghett - Miller High Life (sipped to the top of the neck label)

Fill it with Aperol, and then add a slice of lemon.

It’s money.

1 oz Gin
1 oz Lime juice
1 oz Simple Syrup

Top with 2 oz Soda Water

Here are a few I’ve enjoyed:

The Dead Man’s Handle

1.5 oz blanco tequila
.5 oz Aperol
.5 oz orgeat syrup
.5 oz fresh lime juice

Shake with ice then strain over crushed ice. Can add a little fresh jalapeno

The Bermuda Hundred

2.0 Oz. Dry Gin
1.5 Oz. Pineapple juice
.5 Oz. Aperol
.5 Oz. Lime juice
.5 Oz. Orgeat syrup

Shake with ice then strain over crushed ice.
