I have an egg already and a gas Weber, which is out of commish. It’s a natural gas grill but my new house doesn’t have a gas line (currently).

I’m looking at the rec-tec bullseye as flexible platform for high heat grilling and ability for long smokes.

Recteq is very popular on the food board and outdoor board.

I have a bullseye. It’s pretty good cooker especially for the money. I am not crazy about how it grills for hot dogs, hamburgers, etc. I have turned out some pretty solid ribs and brisket on it. Not the same flavor as a wood burning offset but you should know that will be the case for any pellet smoker. Have also done some reverse sear steaks that came out very nicely.

Couple pics of some ribeyes. They were perfect medium rare edge to edge.

I can't speak to the bullseye, but i have the 700. When i started using a pellet grill about 6 years ago, i ended up selling my egg after a year of non use. I have now moved up to the recteq family and could not be happier.

I grill steaks at 500 degrees with no problem and can smoke briskets overnight without having to worry. Normally smoke at 180 degrees of 225 degrees. Holds temps perfectly.

Now, you will always achieve more smoke with the egg over the pellet grill. I use a smoke tube that burns pellets/wood-chips to achieve more smoke if desired.

Overall, the set it and forget it nature of the pellets grills, to me, outweighs the need for any other grill.

The reqtec is the 2nd pellet grill i have had, the 700 is premium quality compared to most.

I have a 590 and a Bullseye.

I love the 590, and like the bullseye. I feel like its still really hard to get a good sear using the bullseye unless I have it on riot mode.

Yeah, sometimes cooking on the egg feels like a project. I need something I can just “turn on”.

It’s my first pellet grill so I can only compare to charcoal and propane coolers I have had previously. The convenience is the main attraction for most.

I have went back to charcoal for grilling up burgers and hotdogs and stuff because I couldn’t get the charcoal flavor and char that I like with the pellet grill.

Recently bought the RT-700 and have nothing but wonderful things to say. Set up is easy enough. It is a solid smoker with plenty of accessories. Once it is connected to wifi (and you download the app) you can turn the smoker on from miles away, adjust temperature output of the actual smoker and adjust set temp of the item you are smoking. 10/10 for me.

I have the Bullseye and I love it. I cook on it 2-3 times per week, at least. I use it for weeknight grilling - salmon, chicken, veggies - and weekend cooking for ribs, pork butt, wings, etc. It's so easy to start up and it's the most consistent grill I've ever used. I won't ever go back to a non-pellet grill.

The only downsides to the Bullseye are its size, eventually you're gonna want more space and you have to clean it religiously after say a long smoke if you plan on actually using it at high temps or you'll fight grease flare ups.

Always keep a pan on the deflector plate to catch any rendered fat from long cooks, remove it when you're gonna bump the temp up to grill.

no issue with searing at 500 degrees.

I have a traeger, egg and Weber kettle. I use the trager and kettle mostly. My in-laws all have ref tecs and they are awesome pellet grills.

I also have the recteq bullseye. If mine died tomorrow the only thing I would do different is upgrade to the upgraded bullseye they came out with a few months ago. They fixed all of the complaints I had about my bullseye. The new one is built more robust and has wifi controls. As far as cooking, brisket, ribs, pork butts all come out great on the low and slow mode. I have the GrillGrates for cooking steaks on riot mode and they come out perfect. You can also turn it to 350° and cook spatchcock chickens which come out amazing or anything else you would stick in oven. I have had the same experiences with the other posters about cleaning it after long cooks and grease fires. I think I finally learned my lesson after the third one. I use an aluminum pan with about a inch of water below my slow cooks. The set it and forget it ease of pellet grills is hard to beat. I went back and forth on buying one and after I got it, I regretted not getting one sooner.

Check out the new grill from Camp Chef, it has a smoke box you can add wood to it. It's getting a lot of great reviews online, I'm tempted to part ways with my Yoder on one.

Masterbuilt gravity series are nice. Temp control similar to a pellet grill but uses charcoal and or wood so able to get hotter(~700 degrees) and more smoke flavor. Some of the newer models also come with a griddle insert
