I've tried Doris and really liked it, have tried Vega's as well. Wanted to try Rib Room just because we have walked by it so many times.
I never hear it mentioned at all. Is it just a place to fleece well to do tourists?
Is it a legit good night on the town steakhouse?

I've never had steak there. I've only had the prime rib. I have had my birthday lunch there often. I enjoy the room and location. And you can't beat their $2 bucket martinis of Belvedere on Thursdays and Fridays.

Here's my meal from my last birthday. We also ordered several apps. Everyone got the prime rib.

I've only had their prime rib as well (it's their signature dish) That with some of their homemade horseradish is a must.

I had brunch there about 8 or 10 years ago and had the prime rib and enjoyed it.

I had breakfast at the Rib Room on my last trip. The wife got the buffet (which included a delicious omelet station) and I get the Ribeye omelet which was fantastic. I probably wouldn't go back for dinner because I'd rather end up at Doris again or try La Boca.

Funny you said this.

The reservations I had last night for our anniversary I made back in mid-November.
She wanted to try this place. I didn't care.

I leave Kenner at 6:40 for a 7:30 reservation. Traffic is bad, then the quarter is packed. Took 20 minutes to cross Bourbon because of tourist drivers afraid to go into a crowd of people.

Long story short, I couldn't find parking (all the lots were full), and ended up at Mizado over dressed and eating ceviche to dubstep.

Ouch. Hopefully she was still happy with the evening. You tried.

I've been to the RR a couple times, power lunchin'. We always got smashed at the bar before hand so the food was always a bit blurry.

I really wanted a good prime rib, and I had a friend tell me the lamb off the rotisserie was the best ever.
I'll still go check it out soon. I was an idiot for not parking a ways out and taking a pedicab in.
