Was just reading this article in the Advocate New Orleans edition LINK & don't recall it being mentioned here. Fifty years in business is damn impressive.

Worth a trip when in town?

Many times for lunch when I worked downtown. It is a lunch spot and for the most part just regular NOLA type stuff. It is good for what it is, their red beans are excellent.

Better options abound, but I wouldn't tell you no.

Same as Glass...used to eat there when I worked downtown. I'd go back for nostalgic reasons or if I found myself in the area during lunch, perhaps. It's definitely old school and it's neat that they've hung on to that feel.

yep, downtown lunch joint. fine for what it is, not worth driving from anywhere, unless you are into longevity & nostalgia.

Yes and no. Part of me laments dearth true plate lunch style joints in the CBD. It's one of the last true representations of something that used to be so commonplace.

I work only a block or so away. When I moved to NOLA, we were walking past it on the way to another place and I asked if anyone had ever eaten there. None of them had. From the sign, I always thought it was strictly poboys. I'll definitely have to stop in now.

If you work that close to the restaurant, you should definitely try it. The RB poboy is good.
