North of Alexandria? Preferably Shreveport.

If not, I'd be willing to travel south for some that's really good if you have a recommendation.

Can't help you with north of Alex...but in south Louisiana, you can get it at Bourgeois Meat Market in Thibodaux/Schriever.

Thanks y'all. I might just have to make the trip South, then. If it's as good as my paw paw used to make it'll be worth the trip.

I don't think Bergeron's in Shreveport has it, but you can call and check.

I searched "blood" on boudinlink.com and came up with Babineaux's Slaughterhouse in Breaux Bridge. LINK Good luck.

Thanks! Yeah, looks like I'm gonna have to make the trip South. Gonna just go down to NO as well and do a getaway weekend with my girl.

Babineaux closed down, apparently. Got a couple pounds waiting for me at Bourgeois. Thanks for the Rec.

The only time I've had blood boudin was from Bourgeois. I would rate it below average compared to a good non-blood boudin. Bourgeois' regular boudin is below average as well. One of the Bourgeois brothers opened his own store not far from the original. They make a very good smoked boudin. The best boudin in the state is further west, around Lafayette and Lake Charles. I would redirect your search in that direction, otherwise I suspect you'll be disappointed, especially if you are having to go out of your way to get it.

Well damn... Only other places I found that had it was Heberts in Abbeville and this other place in Cottonport. Both were a bit out of the way, so I chose Bourgeois out of convenience. You know whether or not Heberts is substantially better? I hate to renege as I've already told them to set aside some, but I don't wanna drive 5 hours for shitty boudin, either.

I stop by Hebert's Slaughterhouse in Abbeville once a month to buy choice cut meats, bone marrow, and blood boudin which definitely has a unique flavor. I could eat my weight in a quality smoked boudin daily. After 2 links of boudin rouge I'm done for 4-5 weeks until i crave it again. It has a distinct aftertaste and is very rich. Most either like it, or can't stand it ... I'm the only one in my family who will eat it we frequently dine of venison and pork from wild hogs

I travel from Youngsville to Shreveport every 2-3 weeks and can bring you some frozen boudin rouge if interested. Contact me and I'll make it happen for you. FYI - it's my understanding only slaughterhouses can sell blood boudin due to Bd of Health issues with having fresh blood

Would I drive 5 hrs for it ? Nope

would I drive the same distance for Billy's smoked boudin and/or pepper jack stuffed fried boudin balls ? Probably so

T Jims in Cottonport had it. Not north of Alexandria but not that for south for you.

At Bourgeois picking up my boudin. It got good reviews on yelp and was most accessible going to NO. If it's not up to snuff I'll stop by T Jims on the way back north.

Thanks for the offer to bring some! I might take you up on it sometime.

Had Billy's smoked boudin and cracklings today.

I'd give the boudin a 4 out of 10, cracklins, 6 out of 10.

I think i'll stick with Best Stop for cracklins and boudin in that area. Love me some Chops and Nu-Nu's boudin.

Boudin is all about what flavor and texture each individual palate prefers

I live around the corner from NuNu's in Youngsville and will drive past it to buy boudin elsewhere. NuNu's is to dry and bland for my taste , Chops is definitely spicier and more moist

I'm fortunate that I sell Cajun seasonings and make my own boudin

So how was it? Hopefully you picked up some jerky and turkey head cheese while you were there. That's what they are known for.

If you're driving from nola to Texas, I-10 has plenty of good boudin options. On your way back from Nola, plan it to where you're hungry when you'll be hitting Lafayette. Get off at the Scott exit. Go to Billy's and get a couple boudin balls. Go to Best Stop and try some of their boudin and cracklins. Don's is also at that exit. All three are a couple minutes off I-10. None have blood boudin, but you will not be disappointed. I looked on boudin link, and it looks like there is a place in Breaux Bridge that has blood boudin, and has good reviews, Babineaux's. Breaux Bridge is also on I-10. I trust boudin link's reviews much more than I trust yelp.
