My Grandma did almost every night, when she didn't she ate crackers and milk.
I love cornbread and milk but never could get into the crackers and milk.

We always seem to have black eyed peas and cornbread and then milk and cornbread late in the evening sometimes before bedtime....
same here, except with purple hulls.

Grandparents ate it all the time. I always save some cornbread just for this when I cook it. Wife thinks I'm crazy but I love it especially hot.

Yea, growing up it is what we ate on Sunday nights with home made figs. Other Sunday night meal was eggs and rice.

My grandmother ate this every night for dinner. I used to think it was disgusting when I was a kid and then fell in love it with it.

My mom eats it, little cinnamon and sugar in there and it's damn good. Probably do it next time I have corn bread now

My Dad used to eat it all the time when I was growing up. I love cornbread with butter but never got into the milk thing. And I love milk on its own.

That sounds like one of the worst combinations I have ever heard of

If I correctly recall, my great grandmother used to fix it with coffee-milk

I don't remember ever trying it with the coffee in it, but I would try it today if I had a chance

Hot jiffy buttered with sugar and ice cold milk. It takes a lot of milk because it soaks in. Then you have to add more to be like cereal

Yes, my East Tennessee grandparents had it almost daily. I still have it occasionally, but only with white cornbread.

Several of y'all who mentioned fig preserves are making me miss my grandmother's fig preserves.

Oh, and my grandmother, too.

I like a good chunk of room temp cornbread with a glass of cold milk, but not mixed up together. Wife crumbles it up in a bowl and adds milk.
