Do you like beer? A lot of good breweries in SD.

Have dinner at Stone

Stone, Ballast Point, AleSmith, and Green Flash are all somewhat near each other. Go to them all!

can't really help for food, we usually cook or just grab tacos near whatever brewery we go to.

best advice I can give is regarding beer. Let me know what area of SD you'll be in, if you are going to have a car, etc.

Staying in Little Italy, will have a car. Beer is good, but I'm traveling w/a 17 year old, so it can't be the focus of the trip.

go over to Coronado Island and have a beer and a pretty good meal at Coronado Brewing. I love going to Pizza Port, and there is one nearby at Ocean Beach.

for non fish tacos,

Juniper Ivy is a celebrity chef restaurant and it's pretty fun.

Cafe Chloe is a good place for both breakfast and dinner.
