Other than asian cuisine, have yall tried using fish sauce in other dishes? A lot of things call for ground up anchovies (spaghetti sauce, dressings, etc). I know this stuff is fermented but could it go in as a substitute for some anchovy applications?

Just curious if yall have tried it.

Why don't you check into how fish sauce is made... then you will understand why it is not meant for much else than Asian food.

You do know that Worchestershire sauce is fermented and contains anchovies, right?

I use it in all kinds of things. I like the little bit of funk it adds. Red sauces, chicken/beef stocks and most importantly Bloody Mary's.

Thai Basil Pesto

I know it's Asian, but it's another use for fish sauce. I make sure I grow plenty of Thai basil every year just for this purpose.

I did this steak marinade from Quality Meats in NYC. I think the ratios are off in this video where it says "24 tablespoons of fish sauce (must mean 2-4), but did these ingredients on skirt steak and it came out really good

Fish sauce is awesome to add umami to almost anything. Very good in marinara.

At the Blackpot Festival a few years ago, someone used fish sauce and green onions to season cracklins. That was really good. I think they won an award.
