I know Mona, but was wondering if there was something better where I could drag the rug rats. Looking at websites, guessing 1000 figs looks too nice and Kebab seems limited, even though I've heard good things. Preferably uptown, probably lunch. Thanks

1000 figs isn't that "nice". Meaning its not hugely upscale. It is just very, very small. Probably too small for kids.

What's wrong with Lebanon Cafe?

Byblos on Magazine fit this bill but it closed.

Lebanon's would probably work.

nothing other than the fact that I've driven by it 1000 times, but I always forget it's existence. Never tried it, but it looks good, thanks.

Because they make good food and my kids like it. I even the score by bringing my kids. And stealing sugar packets to make trails for ants to enter their restaurant. And leaving upper deckers. And saying "gyro" wrong on purpose so they know where they stand with me

Eta this made sense before the purging of what I hope was a smartass post I had replied to.

Lebanon's is very good. It's your best bet.

We brought our 2 year old to 1000 Figs and immediately walked out...it's not kid friendly.

Try Lebanon's on Carrollton or Babylon on Maple for your best bets. Or The Pyramids on Calhoun, although I haven't been there in a while.

Pyramid's cafe near Yuleman Stadium is pretty casual. They have really great grape leaves. Also, if the kids don't like it, there's a Bud's Broiler practically next door.

Seriously? That was what I really wanted, but the pics of the restaurant online made me start looking around.

Go early-ish. Eat outside out back. You'll be fine.

I eat lunch at Acropolis in Metairie fairly often. They are pretty good and surely kid friendly.

That's all I got.

Old Metairie is not that far from Uptown. I would go to Byblos on Metairie Road.

I need to make a note of this. I really enjoy good in-house made Grape leaves. I hate when they use the stuff out of a can that I can buy at the store.

The only restaurant i've been to in Louisiana with better grape leaves was the Green Olive in Lafayette, but it closed down a few years ago
The best i've ever had in a restaurant were in Hattiesburg, of all places, right outside the gates of Southern Miss.
