Yeah I walk over often
The half off pie before 6pm is solid
Ancora is also good and they have the late happy hour deal but that's off my beaten path and I haven't been for the 9pm hh

Slice isn't in the top tier Pies around the city anymore, but how and the hell is Juan's doing well enough to be opening new spots?
Juan's has the same owners as Slice. They're probably reasonably certain Juan's will do better in that location (better margins on food?). I bet most of the staff gets to stay.

Uptown pizza business seems pretty competitive. Juans in LGD is always doing steady business and usually has a wait for dinner. The margins are probably higher for tex mex. Do bar drinks like margaritas and mojitos have a higher margin than beer? This I have no idea.
Last public mention was late January when Eater ran a report they are planning to open in 2017, but I drove by the location a few weeks ago and it looks the same. Honestly, I don't like the location anyway and hope they find something better. It works for Urban South because they need the production space, but I don't think that area screams "destination."

if I recall, Taceaux Loceaux was supposed to have opened a restaurant in LGD about 18 months ago.

Heard dat, the benefit there is U could call them up at noon on Sunday before kickoff and the wait might be 2 hrs but your pizza will show up in 30 min. I hope midcity pizza can fill that void.

Neither beats a GB's burger

I love the concept and menu at Juans. But everything I've had there always falls short. It's cheap and they use cheap ingredients. I'll pass.

Im curious now how long Slice on St Charles will hold out. They probably saved money ordering ingredients for both locations, so St. Charles may be a bit more expensive to run now?
I think St Charles is last of non-Juans spots. I miss Lucky Rooster. I was disappointed when it was also converted to Juans.
ETA: I suspect Slice St Charles will hold on and live, sort of like the last remaining Semolinas in Metairie.

It's better than Slice

I disagree. I know people that work at Theo's in Metairie. I wouldn't eat there on the regular. Never been to the midcity location, and the one time I had the one in Elmwood it was meh. Would rather eat Rotolo's honestly. However, the Slice on st. charles was better anyways.

Care to expound on what you mean?

It's not my 'go-to', that would be Pizza Delicious, but it's better than that soggy shite that Slice serves up.

Fully agree. I've never had Slice, so I can't comment on it, but I have no idea how Theo's has a single location open, much less multiple. I've eaten at the Elmwood location twice. Are the other locations better? Both times I was there I wanted to ask if they get their crust shipped directly from Red Baron.

I've had the one on Magazine a couple times and it's been decent. It's not the best pizza in the city by any stretch, but it wasn't bad.

I don't think that's fair, a lot of shite goes on in a kitchen that most people don't want to know about.
