If you already have a new Bunn 12 cup coffeemaker?

Wife wants a Keurig but I just bought her a new Bunn in November

If you don't drink whole pots of coffee at a time. It's more expensive cup for cup, but I only make one cup a day and it's cheaper to make a cup than a pot and waste the other however many cups it made.

Its fast.

That's it. The coffee has no body or real depth of flavor.

For one cup. If you drink more than one cup, having one is a disadvantage to other brewing methods. My wife and I regret getting one.

I drink a cup coffee around 5am, wife drinks a cup at 9am. We each get a fresh cup. Even buying the pods at costco its 50 cents per cup. Its a bad deal on cost per cup, however you can beat pressing a button and a decent cup of coffee shooting out. I would be fine going back to the pot, wife likes the keurig.

keurig makes a terrible cup of coffee in my opinion. I think it's because the water doesn't soak in the coffee long enough. that's just my opinion though.

does anyone have any experience with reusable pods? seems like you could improve flavor/body and maybe save some $$ if they work well

Actually, I've found that if you buy a reusable k-cup (I use ekobrew products) and your own whole bean coffee, you can grind it finely enough to where the resulting coffee picks up a little more flavor. The trick is making sure you don't grind it too finely, or else the k-cup will overflow and you'll have a mess on your hands.

Obviously you'll never match the quality of coffee you'll get out of a french press, pour over, etc... but if you don't have time for that, I think this is a way to get a half decent cup of coffee out of your Keurig.

It's quick, convenient, and much less hassle at 4:30am... I'll gladly pay extra $$ for that.

Not killing the earth any more than drinking bottled water or soft drinks in plastic bottles.

The Bunn we have already makes 10-12 cups instantly. So fast is not the problem.
She says now she'll be able to make just 1 cup to go, for the ride to work.
Idk. I'm not a coffee drinker so maybe I just don't understand

You know you can only fill up the coffee maker with like 1/3 of a pot? That's what my girlfriend and I do as we each only drink one cup in the morning. So a $14 coffee can will last us about 3 weeks. That's about 40 cups of coffee. Around $0.35/cup. Looking online, Keurig cups seem to be about double that, plus $100 more for the machine.

The re-usable cups are the way to go. It makes the whole thing economical, and you can use whatever coffee you damn well please.

I got the Wife a Keurig for Christmas 2 years ago (basic model ... just makes a cup of coffee and that's it) ... Community didn't make K cups yet,so I bought her a refillable cup. Haven't bought another K cup since.

I don't drink coffee, she only drinks 1 cup ... we don't spend all kinds of money on K cups ... it makes sense for us.

We just converted from a Bunn drip system to a k-cup system at work. K-cups allow multiple different kinds of coffee to be brewed to individual preference: decaf, caf, various blends/flavors, and a short/medium/long pour is optional on our machine. A brewed pot doesn't sit and stew like it used to, and each person can pick the roast he/she likes best. No more being stuck with the boss's favorite.

But my private office machine is a Nespresso. I'd rather have a halfway decent espresso to a k-cup pour any day. And Nespresso pods are fully recyclable aluminum.
