Looks like it would be worth a try if I get back that way again. Spent some time in the Delta a couple of years ago and found several good eating establishments.

Being the expert that you are, Otis, what are your favorite Delta tamales? Do any of the places ship?

Heavenly Hot Tamales in Greenville and Lake Village are top notch. Big Daddy's at the Donut Shop in Natchez are excellent Delta style for the folks closer to BR.

Not sure about shipping GG. Most of these joints are true Mom & Pop's and such technology ain't on their radar. I'll do some high-fangled research, though.

And Fat Mama's suck in comparison. It's the cold, hard truth.

Here are a few shots from the last time we were there. We were on our way to Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale that day. Ground Zero is Morgan Freeman's Blues Club.
Tamales at Doe's are better, but I cleaned my plate that day.
Across the road from the place is Baxter Laboratories, where I first worked after getting out of MSU. By the time I left, I had been a Process Chemist, Mixing Lab Production Chemist, Microbiologist, and Sterilization Scientist.

Quite an old picture huh? Miller lite bottle with the blue label caught my eye.

I disagree strongly. Doe's are in paper and taste like they might as well come from a can. If the family wasn't Greenville royalty, they'd be laughed out of town for the tamale effort. Steaks, different story.
Putting chili on the Airport product is not an enhancement. Eat them nekkid and you'll see they are good.

Maybe I have lost my taste for tamales.
I like something on mine. Dry is not my way to eat a tamale.

But a proper Delta tamale isn't dry. If it is, it ain't good.

This is a cold hard fact. Most people that talk them up are ignorant hill people that think they're good just because it's Doe's... Hot Tamale Heaven shits all over Doe's tamales. Another place to check out is 5 O'clock on Deer Creek in Scott. It's in the middle of fricking nowhere, but it's a good spot. They're tamales can compete with Hot Tamale Heaven.
