I can be wrong, so I'll agree with you. His responses make sense and even if I'm wrong this stuff is still better than "Best Hot Dog in Meridian?" posts.

Welcome to the board! I've been hitting Adolfo's joints since the early days at Rio Mar (RIP).

This guy gets it.

Love La Boca, but not a steakhouse seeker. It is one of the first ones I recommend.

What do we have to do to get an A Mano pop-up or reincarnation? It was one of my favorites in town.

Any scoop on the new place? It sounds like something between La Boca and the old Rambla.

Again, welcome!

Food boards, review sites, and the like have provided so much more information for diners.

They have definitely raised the bar for both establishments and patrons. I've learned so much from this board about all things food and drink that I never would have had.

Agree. I believe reviewers (and of course especially this board) more than a restaurant's website. At least there is the possibility of objectivity.

this is a great thread.. thanks for stopping by Jared

I don't live in NOLA anymore but I still insist that La Boca was the best steak I had when I lived there. It's too bad my wife's vegetarian so I don't really get to stop by when we visit.

Thanks for posting. La Boca is hands down my favorite restaurant in the city. Keep up the good work. And props to your server team. Every time I go the service is fantastic. Very knowledgable group.

I was thinking about posting that thread in here.

Sorry. Can't do quotes from my phone.

Amano, can't see that happening. The original chef left after 2 years and it's tough to bring back original inspiration.
The new place Primitivo....

I like to keep it a bit mysterious.
Best info is on Twitter.
@eatPrimitivo

I've been posting pics of construction for a while.

Wine consumed by sommeliers?

Really not much, if any. The wines are obviously tasted prior to purchase. Then a quick sniff test when opening tableside is adequate to make sure the bottle isn't "off".
Sometimes guests offer mgmt or myself a glass or a taste of a special bottle.
However my staff nor myself don't drink during service. It's a bad precedent and contributes zero to the ability to perform our jobs.

I was making a joke really brother .. rather than trying to address a serious issue. Me and O Brah had dinner there with a couple of girls a while back and our somm was really entertaining. Not in a bad way at all, just eccentric. Not sure if from booze or if that's just him. Either way it was a laugh riot. He had a lot of confidence and recommended two really nice bottles. Made a good night even better.

Been visiting La Boca since it was around the corner. Every time has been supreme in both food and service. Keep it up. That tasting menu is one of the best deals in the city.

If you read this whole thread and think this then I would go slap the people who taught you to read.

Based on past history with how some chefs and owners have had issues here, some offered some warnings to the chef, but he has been welcomed here and the posters and he have both been great.

I guess you were looking for your cool guy ribbon or something by jumping in here like this.

Who ridiculed the man? Post a quote because I did not see anyone ridiculing him.
