I've always used 120 qt pots, but I'm looking at an 80 qt all in one unit. Can I expect constant boil overs? Will a 42 lb sack even fit in this pot?

what are you boiling, bait?

80 is plenty for 1 sack. 120 IMO is overkill for a single sack. i want a 100 rocket pot. but my 80 is plenty.

oh, 42# in a single sack are tiny crawfish. highest ill buy is 35. i like 28-32# sacks.

Have an old 88qt I bought from Service Merchadise back in the early '80s. Handles 32# sacks easy. Boiled many batches of crawfish, crabs, shrimp though the years. Still serves we well. Less liquid - less time to come to temperature.
When I built my house I had a hot water faucet run to the outside. I start with hot water, doesn't take long to boil.

I have an 80 that was my FIL's its worked fine and have no reason to step up in size. No issue with whole sack + some extras.

My neighbor has a 60 quart that he can boil a whole sack in.

I have an 80, works fine for a sack at a time.

I have an 80 qt. It's perfect for a sack plus whatever you want to add. (potatoes, corn, mushrooms, etc.)

Another vote here for 80qt. Whole sack plus potatoes, corn, sausage, mushrooms, and lemons happens every week or so at my house.

I have an 80 qt pot and I wish I had a 100 or 120. There's enough room for a whole sack and a little more, but I run out of space when I start adding all the various veggies and ice after the boil.

I add a lot more veggies than your standard boil

Don't think I'm your neighbor, but that's my set up. From the 80's a 60qt pot, nylon net for crawfish and jet burner. Just got an aluminum basket for it that I'll be trying out this weekend. The nylon net has seen better days...

Same here. I actually have a Seperate "veggie pot."

I've been using 120's for so long I guess I was concerned about this 80 qt. Thanks for the advice.

I bet most people don't understand the correlation between size and sack weight. no pun.

28 is getting big. The bigger the crawfish are thee less meat since the heads take up more room.
