We did V at Seagrove last night. They have 1/2 priced entrees from 5-6, which they take walk ins only. After 6:30, they do allow call ahead seating. As mentioned before, the chef is from Baton Rouge. You can see some of his influence, and of the south in general, on the menu. It is a trendy looking restaurant (my 7 year old said it didnt look like a restaurant at all), with some nice outdoor seating over looking the water. We arrived at 5:20 and were seated 15 min later. They have large menu presentations at the hostess stand, so we were pretty sure what we wanted when we sat down.

A view from our table:

Thought about Gris & her skillets when the warm cornbread was delivered as a starter bread.

7 year old chose Chicken n Waffles. The chicken had a great flavor and nice crunch.... With a creole mustard hollandaise-like cream sauce sprinkled atop. The syrup served on the side was a thin cane syrup, nicely done. Sweet, salty, tangy. Good dish. Alot of food. Probably the best of the entrees we tried.

Wife ordered the Sauteed Local Black Grouper - I thought this dish was lacking in flavor, she felt the same. That said, the grouper was fresh, and the dish was presented well.

I chose the Crusted Yellowfin Tuna - this dish had an asian flair, with typical veggies found in asian dishes... Cut & mixed with the noodles. Spaghetti veggies, if you will. The homeade "bbq" was just a bit tangy and matched well with a hint of soy. Dish had good flavor, my wife preferred it to hers - actually finishing it as I had a Chicken n Waffle.

It was a nice dinner. Especially for what we paid. If we went again, it would be during the half entree special.... And we would likely order different dishes.... Er, maybe not the kido. He liked his chicken n waffles, actually stuck a piece of the chicken n the oven at 9pm last night to finish it off!

Total bill was $62 before tip, with 3 entrees, 1 lemonade, 1 glass of chardonnay on the 1/2 entree happy hour. $75 for a nice dinner on 30A is totally reasonable. We wont have one that cheap again, Im sure.

Up next, Cafe Tango tonight

Good looking plates and a great view. Boss, you should have gone into sales...that you ever convinced the beautiful Mrs Boss to stay with you has to register as one of the greatest sales feats in the history of marketing.

Enjoy tonight and please report. The lobster ravioli there is unbelievable.

Their steak offerings look great, but I'm into seafood when I hit the beach. I did bring a steak to go order back to a son's friend who had indulged in too many cigars and too much scotch to make the dinner reservation...he liked it a bunch.

We're skipping our 30a trip this year, and not going to Tango is the worst part I think. Place is so good. I pretty much always order fish at a nice restaurant, but holy shite that chimichurri is something special.

Cafe Tango was excellent, as expected!

Our reservation for 3 was at 6pm. We were the 1st guests to arrive and were prompltly seated upon our arrival. They apparently stagger their reservations to control dinner flow... Something ofwhich they obviously are very good. Tango is a very small house, with 28 seats. Very quaint and romantic place.... But comfortable to dine with another couple if so desired.

Just a note on the salad dressings, they are all made in house - we tried the Parmesean Ranch (son), Roasted Pecan Blue Cheese (me), Ginger Soy Vinagerette (wife). I tried them all.... Very very good. The BC was my favorite, light BC flavor.

My wife knew what appetizer she wanted upon arrival, and would have no part of me ordering the appetizer special of fresh bluefin tuna that was flowin in hours before.

Jalapeno Shrimp Scampi
Fresh Jumbo Shrimp served scampi style in a Jalapeno Cream Dipping Sauce - With butter toasted dipping bread.

This was incredible. We could have ordered several, and dined on them. My bride said the next time she goes, that will be her entree. Maybe 2 of them!

Son had the Lobster Ravioli. They prepared him a "half" order, consisting of 2 large Lobster Stuffed Ravioli's, a Seared Scallop & 2 Jumbo Shrimp. He didnt eat much, after disposing of some scampi & a metric ton of bread. Wife and I both enjoyed this dish... I may order a "half" plate next time as a side dish. The pink lobster cream sauce was not too rich, and not overpowering... Almost like a delicate roasted red pepper creole cream.

Fish of the evening were Snapper or Swordfish. The wife chose Swordfish (at my recommendation) - Dancing. The Dancing Swordfish was 8-10 oz filet of Pan Sauteed Swordfish, topped with Jumbo Lump Crabmeat, Grilled Diver Scallops, and Spinach atop a Jalapeno Cream Sauce

Excellent entree. The jalapeno cream had a very different flavor lacking the lemon from the scampi. I thought the swordfish was great. Obviously fresh from the texture. My wife was not crazy about it - so we swapped entrees. I think she may be crazy tho, because I would recommend this again.

I chose the Gorgonzola Filet with a side of Chimichurri. The filet was topped with a gorgonzola butter & jumbo lump crabmeat. At the recommendation of previous posts, I had chimichurri brought to me. It was awesome... Very strong flavor, but was cool. I think I would have enjoyed it more had it been warm. I can 100% see the steak seared in that seasoning, as being an outstanding steak. As mentioned before, wife and I swapped entrees, so I only got a couple bites of this one. Its good, no doubt.... But I will go for a fish or lamb next time.

Infamous Chimi

A couple beside us ordered the Bluefin Tuna Appetizer, Roasted Duck with Fois Gras, and Lamb Chops. I stopped by their table as we left, the gentleman that ordered the lamb loved it, said I needed to come back 2morro and get it.... His wife ran an upscale restrnt n San Destin (didnt ask which) - they go to Tango often. Nuff said.

Cafe Tango is one of best spots on the coast. Highly recommend. I will b havin Lamb Chops next go around. Great wine list, too.

Appetizer, "Half" Lobster Ravioli, Dancing Swordfish, Gorgonzola Filet, 2 glasses of wine $150 before tip.
