Hurst's HamBeens brand. This is some good stuff. Great camp meal.

I like the bean mix but throw the seasoning packet away and season my own.

Make sure you cook a ham hock in there with them.

Anyone in the Alexandria area that would know where they sell ham hocks?

Usually use smoked turkey neck, smoked sausage, and tasso.

You hit the nail on the head, love that brand of soup starter &I also throw away the seasoning packet & season on my own. I like to drop smoked ham hocks & smoked turkey necks in there too.

Most grocery stores carry smoked hocks/necks and smoked turkey wings and other parts, routinely. If there's a Cajun meat market in the area, you can find them there. I think there's one in Pineville that's been discussed here.

It sounds good for a snack but I think you're going to need more beans than that if you're very hungry at all.

Any idea what's in the season pack that comes with it?

One of my favorites, just before your ready to serve throw a pound of peeled shrimp in the pot (one lb. per bag of beans).

Dude that's a pound and a quarter of beans. Add a neck bone and a hock and that will feed a few. Sweet goodness it would be my luck to sit next to you on a plane after you ate that whole bag o beans.

15 beans is too much. Scientist have proven you can only taste 11 beans at once max.

The Cajun 15 bean soup by Hurst's is better than the regular, IMO.

This one is also very good.
But Miss Darla...that pack is three beans short of 15!

I like bean soup, I've had it a couple times.
I dont get the Cajun though. What makes that soup Cajun? I don't know of any Cajun who cooks bean soup on the regular.

Cajun seasoning inside. I'm sure it's a pack of Tony's which as anyone in South Louisiana knows makes it Cajun. And authentic too.

I don't know what makes it "cajun"; I just like the way it tastes better and was offering it as an alternative to the OP.
From the ingredients list, it DOES have different/more spices than the regular version, including onion and garlic which I'd probably add anyway. It doesn't taste that hot to me so it's not just added pepper heat (which is what a lot of people seem to pass off as Cajun).

Check again, it's only two beans short.

One of my fav winter meals, sautéed onions, then add chicken stock & tomatoes, very light on seasonings to keep it universal for folks that don't eat spicy, then add Tabasco Chipotle to spice it out of the microwave for my own bowl.
Prefer smoked ham hocks, but have used Honey Baked Ham remnants..but the glaze sugar just builds in flavor..too sweet.
Homemade Mexican Cornbread works well with this meal too.
