When the NFLPA files an injunction in NY, then what?

Based on some of the stuff I’ve been reading, it doesn’t sound like the chances of anything getting overturned or delayed this time are super high. Nobody seems to really know anything though.

I offered this trade more as a troll job to everybody that has a decent back in my league. Offered Zeke for Hunt, Fournette, Freeman, Gordon, Gurley, Bell, and Miller. The Miller owner actually accepted it, which I was not expecting to happen.

You jumped the gun.
One can argue Miller is an appropriate value for Zeke if he's going to miss all six games for sure, especially if your RB situation sucks and your record is bad. I can understand that.

But there's still some uncertainty, and that should be priced in. And that uncertainty brings his value higher than a Miller.

Miller is a top 10 RB this year with the Texans offense playing good. Turd in the punch bowl is a tad strong, I would say he’s more like a cubic zirconia ring.

Even if you make the playoffs, he will be a major asset to have on a roster at that time when everyone else is beat up. Ive considered trading bell for 2mid tier rbs to cover the susp time, during the playoffs he would return and i would still have the rbs. Imo, i wouldnt have traded zeke

It won’t go final until next week anyways. Might get vetoed.

I like how you're simultaneously trying to defend the trade while hoping your league bails you out and vetoes it.

Cowboys.com's Bryan Broaddus expects Darren McFadden to be the lead back with Ezekiel Elliott suspended.

Alfred Morris has been the No. 2 back, but McFadden is a favorite of owner Jerry Jones. McFadden offers more of an Elliott skill set and could move ahead of Morris with Dallas on their bye. Morris should still be the favorite to start if Elliott's suspension holds, but it's far more a lock.

FWIW. Broadus has good connections in Dallas, so worth mentioning. His tweet said he’d “guess” DMac is lead RB, so this blurb is somewhat misleading

I've been following this pretty closely as a Zeke owner (and member of the bar). Daniel Wallach is on the ball and his twitter brings together a bunch of info:

I would go the rehearing route given 2-1 split & Mazzant ruling. Exhaust every possible option.

quote:

Gabe Feldman @SportsLawGuy Oct 12

Dissenting judge described EE's discipline as part of an "arguably unfair process". Majority said complaints about "process may have merit"

If even the 2 votes to overturn the injunction say that the case has merit (which wasn't heard - they only decided on the whether the injunction was premature), Elliott might have a chance an a en banc rehearing by CA5.

In fact, the dissenting option said their guidelines make it a prime candidate for en banc review due to it not following SCOTUS precedent:

Sports Law Blog
This link talks about how the NFL excluding evidence from the hearing might pave the way for Elliott to successfully argue that the suspension should be overturned on fundamental fairness grounds.
quote:

Nonetheless, there is a world of difference between excluding a "collateral" witness like Jeff Pash (who was not a central character in the Deflategate saga) and denying an accused access to an undeniably critical witness such as Tiffany Thompson, whose statements to the NFL provided the foundation for the discipline imposed against him. While she obviously can't be compelled to testify (as I have noted, the NFL lacks that power), the notes of her extensive interviews with the NFL are nonetheless important pieces of evidence, certainly much more so than the Wells investigative files in Deflategate. The exclusion of these notes, in my view, is far more harmful to Elliott's case (and the overall fairness of the arbitration) than was the denial of the investigative files to Brady. Like night and day. The Second Circuit might even agree.

Here's the deal.

He's getting suspended. It's either this year or next.

Blame everyone else for agreeing to the CBA as written. It gave Goodell essentially unlimited power.

I think most people know that’s the deal.

As a Zeke owner I want the suspension to happen next year.

Understandable. I think there are folks who think he's going to get off completely (not necessarily anyone in this thread)

Owning Zeke is like opening a Christmas present every few weeks. So much anticipation, and excitement.

Murray for Zeke trade paid off!

Now they're saying they filed another temp restraining order and he's eligible for 2 more weeks, meaning if the suspension goes into affect, he'd be out for week 1 of the playoffs.
