For those who cannot watch, check the Live Stats out. Click the Live Stats tab at the top and select your 4 drivers as favorites and you will be good.

I would like to thank 8 of the 11 people ahead of me for picking Kyle Busch this week! And Matty DBTO finishing within 2 spots of Erik Jones was very helpful...
Having Erik Jones late in the year once everyone else has used their allotment for him could be useful ....

I had a good week scoring 328. Was a cleaner race than I expected.

That is the dilemma. Do you use the "good" people at the beginning and hope you build a big enough lead to maintain or do you save some people and hope you can catch up?

Had Clint Bowyer hell yeah! Busch screwed me though.

I think I am in last place in the group now!!!
I got just derailed with Kes and crew.

Finished 3rd this week. Might've won but Truex and Larson got speeding penalties late.

Well at least you didn't pick Jones! That's 1 out of the race for me. Man, I hate damn short tracks!

It's Talladega week, boys! Finally get to see some racing that isn't 2 drag strips with a U-turn on each end!

Let's handicap the race this weekend! I'll go first.
Sorry if tl/dr, but it's storming out and what else you got to do? Please keep in mind rule #5 in the Fantasy Board Guidelines when reading this.
An interesting fact to consider before making picks is that in the history of NASCAR races at Talladega, Chevy has won 40 times. The second best manufacturer is Ford at 24, and Toyota has only 3 wins. Something to keep in the back of your mind when making picks, but it didn't influence my picks this week.
I looked at both races there last year and Daytona this year. (The last 3 plate races.)
I look at the top half of the field and look for trends in the drivers and there are a couple of interesting ones. The most obvious is Kurt Busch. In the Spring of last year he finished 8th, in the Fall he was 4th and he won Daytona this year. That's an upward trend and this is why I don't put much stock in manufacturers this race because last year he drove S-H Chevy's and this year S-H switched to Ford. Another trend I noticed was Clint Bowyer. In the Spring race last year he finished 7th, in the Fall he finished 18th and at Daytona this year he was involved in a wreck on lap 128 and finished 32nd. Hard to know how he would have done if not for being involved in the wreck and he's been running well so far this year, but I'll save him. Another downward trend I see is Austin Dillon finishing 3rd last Spring, 9th in the Fall then 19th at Daytona. Nope. Ryan Blaney is a consistent plate racer running 9th, 11th and 2nd. That's very good for a driver in his sophomore season with the big boys and shows he can keep himself out of trouble. I don't know what to think about Brad Keselowski. He won the Spring race last year and lead 46 laps, but he blew his engine last Fall after 144 laps, of which he lead 90 of them, then at Daytona this year he was involved in an accident and was out on lap 143 and lead only 2 laps. Since his crew chief got suspended for the race this weekend, I think I'll save him for another day. Another interesting trend, in a not so often picked driver, is AJ Allmendinger finishing 14th, 10th and 3rd. As far as C group trends go, there are a couple. I know we are all trying to save Jones and I'll leave him alone this week. The C group trends I see are Michael McDowell, who finished 21st, 16th and 15th in our sample races and Landon Cassill who finsihed 11th, 21st and 16th.
So my picks for this weekend and how many picks I have left are as follows:
Group A: Joey Logano (8) and Kevin Harvick (7)
Group B:Kurt Busch (8), Ryan Blaney (8), Chase Elliot (5) and AJ Allmendinger (9).
Group C: Michael McDowell (9) and Landon Cassill (9).
5 Fords and 3 Chevys. I'll see how they practice and qualify before making my final Starter picks.
That's my picks for this week and the reasoning behind them. Of course all the research and planning in the world goes out the window when the "big one" hits. I try not to go with my favorites in plate races because they are so unpredictable. I wasted a Jones pick last week after he was the first driver out of the race on a damn short track and I'm still pissed about it! In the past, the "big one" struck me and I lost all 4 starters in one wreck at Talladega! But that's plate racing for you.
This is generally how I pick each race and I may not post this much info in the future, but was bored this morning.
So who you got and why?

I like someone like Trevor Bayne this week, he probably won't win, but is usually good @ pushing people on Plate tracks to victory. Regardless who you go with, its a crap shoot still.
Side Note: (since this is probably the best thread for it) Anyone watch Alonso test @ Indy today? Had it on all day @ work and its been a fantastic watch, all the big names there, Mario in the press box, cameras everywhere. He Aced the rookie test, and hit 222mph. Based on no tow speeds last year before they trimmed all the cars out, he's right where he needs to be. Impressive for the first time ever on an oval track.

I went
Harvick
Elliot
Blaney
Jones
So I am sorry I doomed everyone who is taking those guys. I think I finished 2nd in the group last weekend though.

Good post Bagger. Brave man to give your secrets away. I still have 5 Jones left and will indeed leave him on the bench for this race. May try and go to this race.
