Bank Fishing near Baton Rouge

Looking to start doing some fishing every now and then. I don't have a boat so I am limited to bank fishing unless I go with my brother in law. I'm looking for some good spots within an hour of Baton Rouge that I can go spend a couple hours at, catch some fish and just chill out for a bit. I'm looking for more of a secluded area than the LSU lakes, something away from this city and the people that live in it haha...
Some spots I know about:
-Sherburne WMA
-LSU Lakes
-Ramar Exit on I-10 (I've never been but if someone could fill me in on where to go/what to bring that would be great.)
-Amite River
If you know of a nice, shady area that you don't mind sharing, please do so. Also, if you could tell me what type of fish are in the area that would help out a lot.

Trial and error is your friend.. these guys don't respond well at all to these threads.

There was a thread with maps on here about a year ago.
If I recall correctly, the weeks following it was posted, so many people showed up to fish those areas that local landowners/homeowners were calling the cops on everyone.
The thread had to get canned.

Hmm.. maybe whomever has the map should give it out to select members of the board.. say arbitrarily.. maybe people with over 10,000 posts?

Old US 51 between Ponchatoula and LaPlace. I drive that occassionally and always see people fishing in the canals along the road.

Your best bet is to download Google Earth and start exploring. Plenty of subdivisions and apartment complexes have ponds that are stocked, but you have to know someone that lives there or not care about trespassing.
A few BREC parks have ponds (which are heavily pressured for the most part). The Waddill Wildlife place (i think its a BREC park too) has stocked ponds as well.
When the MS River gets high you can fish off the levee in the the trees and catch catfish.

I saw what happened with those maps a while back. I have always only told people a general area that was a good spot and let them think it out for themselves. I am not gonna give out my best spots on even a 100ac lake. If they are privileged enough to go with me, I make them wear a blindfold

Ive done plenty searching on google earth and driving around to find these spots. I watched them all get overrun with dick bags last time. I'm not giving them out again.

Let me know when you go. I've always wanted to give that a shot.

Lots and lots of lurkers. Unless you own it nothing is safe. Fishing spots, hunting land, leases. It is fine to show off the catch, just be careful that it cannot be pinpointed...

Waddill is the training facility for the Wildlife & Fisheries, so you'd better have you license if you plan on fishing here.
