last minute planning here...this may be an impossible situation.
We will be in NYC Valentine's Day weekend...we would like to get reservations for 4. Will this be possible anywhere on Valentine's Day?
...around $200 or less per couple would be ideal. We'd like to have good food and a nice time too, of course
Thanks a lot.

any particular area of town, any particular cuisine, and will you all be drinking?

Thanks for the reply, quail.
Pretty open to type of food. I guess Italian would be the girls' top choice.
Don't know where we'll be in town. Will that be an issue? Can we cab/uber it to wherever?
And yes, we will be drinking.
Thanks again.

cab will be as cheap with 4 people in it, so don't worry about that. and it's fairly easy to get anywhere. i just wanted to see if you had a preference.
i would say do little italy possibly, but i'm not sure which of those places take recommendations down there.
If you're going to drink, bottles of wine will run around $50, so you'll be looking for a place with about a $25-30 entree i'm guessing?
i would use open table and set parameters, which i've done for you here: LINK
since i'm not sure which ones are available and not.
i also recommend Bobo in the West Village. Great spot and should be romantic for V-Day.
TBH, I'm not overly versed in italian restaurants in the city. but i haven't had a bad meal at one yet. pretty much just pick one and go for it in an area of the city you'll find fun. i would say east or west village or chelsea.
enjoy

L'apicio is an Italian restaurant that is part of the same group that owns L'Artusi. It's a big restaurant and generally has good availability. It's in the Bowery, and if you have dinner there, you will have a multitude of places to choose for drinks or whatever after dinner.

Mad for Chicken would be a fun, offbeat choice.
Just learned recently will be spending 5 days in nyc this August. Anything must try, coolpapaboze

I went to Piora last month in West Village/Chelsea. Very good northern Italian fare.

Try A'llonda and if booked you could go to Lincoln. That place is huge and should have a reservation.
Maybe call Batard and see if you can get a late seating.

For one Valentine's in NYC we decided last minute that we wanted to go out on the day although we normally don't. We just got reservations at a little French place for 11pm and spent the first part of the evening bar hopping around the neighborhood until dinner. We also picked up 2 bottles of wine since it was BYOB. Don't think that restaurant is there anymore, but it turned out to be a lot of fun with the late reservation.

Terrific place in the West Village, but good luck trying to grab a table for four on Valentine's night.

It's in a weird area of you take the subway (have to walk severale blocks through some interesting neighborhoods) or you can just drive or grab a bus I suppose
Definitely worth it. There's a few bread/pastry shops there too if that's your thing
