I have never been, but their commercials make their food look amazing.

Is Carrabba's worth a visit, or is it simply a fancy Olive Garden?

People here generally think it is one of the better chains. May be the case.. my parents love it.. but nothing ever impressed me enough to go back. Not when I can go to DiGulio's for the same price.

It depends on your palette, to be frank. If you have an above average palette and have a preference for above average food, you probably will find it to be.... meh.

Thanks...we might simply try it for lunch one day soon without any high expectations.

Definitely one of the better chains out there. Anything served in the Marsala wine sauce is worth getting. Their mussels appetizer is darn good too. In the same price range as any of the chain steakhouses.

I went a decade ago, thought it was pretty good, especially for a chain. Went again about a year ago, and it sucked.

I haven't been to carraba in years, but I did go to the Houston restaurant that is still owned by the Carrabbas (cannot remember the name, but it's near the Galleria) and it was fantastic.

I have to imagine the chain is the Italian version of Outback. Which isn't an insult, just a description.

The mussels at Bonefish are a guilty pleasure of mine. I go sit in the bar and have them once every month or so.

A few people here raved about Carraba's when I said that once, so I went to try them. They were nowhere near as good as Bonefish

Still decent, but not nearly as good.

I really like Carrabba's. FTR, I don't pretend to have 'refined' taste buds. A good grilled redfish over hickory or red beans & rice w/ a good smoked sausage and some catheads or brisket smoked over oak and I'm good.

That said, I would put Carrabba's among the best chains. You can probably find something on their menu that'll you'll enjoy.

I like Carrabba's.

There is this chicken dish with goat cheese that is really excellent.

It's two steps up from Olive Garden, but a Step below Bravo's IMO.

(as far as chain Italian)

I had a friend who was a bartender there so I would sit at the bar and shoot the breeze with her, and ended up exploring a few food items and was impressed. The calamari was tasty and the pasta pescatore was spot on, featuring perfectly al dente pasta and a decent amount of seafood. Carrabba's can hardly be used in the same sentence as Olive Garden, even though I just did.

Not surprising since Carrabba's and Outback (also Bonefish Grill and Fleming's) are all owned by the same company.

Only one I've ever been too and I'll agree that it's solid.
