I would like it to return so that I can have hopes of competing.

Probably still won't, but I like to think I will.

Yes

I tend to agree with bottomlands ideas. Less voting on ingredients, more common ingredients with a single "interesting" twist.

We might get more participation if we had more generic ingredients, like "beef" or "hot pepper".

That would give people more flexibility to use their creativity. Or maybe we can give a list of 5 or 6 ingredients and have the contestants use 4 of them.

I think sometimes people stay out of the competition because of that one weird ingredient that they don't know how to use. Keep in mind that unlike chopped, we have to feed what we make to our family, when we're done.

Very good idea imo

Good point. Participation is the biggest thing. I think the previous challenges were a bit too ambitious.

that one weird ingredient

Near the end, there were 3 weird ingredients, and one common one. Not a huge deal, but it started to get out of hand.

I would try again in an every-other month sort of deal. I had fun, and learned stuff when I entered.

When it started, the first basket was almost seasonal. October was pumpkin, marmalade, pork, and sriracha with the latter being the "twist" ingredient. I would like to see something similar this time. Maybe Alligator if we are playing Florida, or turkey during November. Uncommon herbs and spices should be introduced. If the basket items are Captn Crunch cereal and durian, I'm going to sit out.

Better yet, make people pledge to playing before the basket is revealed, keep a running ranking list for participants, and have the most consistent player win in the end.

IDK. The last one was tuna, avocado, and tangerine/orange. The only "weird" thing was pasta shells and even that isn't very weird.

Only myself and one other person even bothered because let's face it.. those three things go together regardless.

It's like giving us ground beef, burger buns, and onions.

That said, I enjoy the challenge and would love to see a return.

I was guilty a couple times of bowing out because I didn't want to incorporate one of the ingredients.

I actually tried that one. It failed. I was doing a grilled tuna sandwich with fried avocado breaded in a powder from the pulverized shells. I was unhappy with the color of the fried semolina on the avocado. My tangerine aioli was weak also.
