the stop signs in parking lots---hold the weight of the law?

They are very official looking but I usually just treat them as yield signs because I don't think the po-po can give someone a ticket due to it being non-government property. Am I bound to get a ticket?

the law lies somewhere between what the police officer charges you with and whether or not the judge (or in other cases, a jury) finds you guilty.

I dont think you can get a ticket on private property from local police. Mall cops may be able to issue citations but I have no idea what happens if you dont pay.

I know they can ticket you for parking in handicap spots on private property but not traffic signs, not really sure

The only traffic law in a parking lot that is enforceable by the police is parking in a handicapped spot or fire zone.

If it is private property and not a public roadway I would say no.
Involved in a crash it could cause you to be ruled at fault though in court.
Just my guess.

Some parking lots have that "under police jurisdiction" or something to that effect. That means they can right?

What about a DUI in a bar parking lot? Passed out in the parking lot with key in ignition happens fairly often.

32 codes are public roadway only
14 codes can be charged on private property.
DWI is a 14 code

If I'm not mistaken, you can get a reckless operation ticket in a parking lot for saying screw it and blowing through it.
A stop sign ticket would not apply though because it's not an actual street nor does the stop sign have the DOT sticker on the back in parking lots
