This is what I see Greivis becoming. I'd love to bring in another young guard to round out our rotation. Someone will eventually need to reduce Greivis' load and compete with him. Hopefully it will be someone with a different style of play than we have on the roster now. Someone dynamic.

I like the idea of keeping a core piece or two around for continuity.

We're only a couple of players away. Assuming those players are Gary Payton and Scottie Pippen.

Im going to throw this out there and then duck, but....

I would love to see them get Stephen Jackson on a reasonable 2 year deal. An older, not terribly efficient player and definitely insane, but an absolute bulldog who has a ring- maybe 2 by the end of this year. I dont think he is a missing piece or anything but would love a vocal, proven vet like that. I doubt he leaves SAS

Agree with your assessment of Davis. To me, the jury is out on Gordon, but perhaps with better people around him he would be better. Anderson and Smith are keepers. Hope that Rivers progresses, and that someone could teach Aminu how to shoot-if he could shoot he could be dangerous. Lopez and Vasquez would be good backup players.

Ill go by position:

PG: Gravy - I think its pretty obvious that he'll be our starter for at least the immediate future. He has his weaknesses(athleticsim) but he makes up for it and I wouldn't be shocked if we extended him.

Roberts - I was a vocal critic of him but he's quietly put up a decent season for us. I would like him more if he was younger and was a 2(which he should be IMO)

SG: Asterisk - Has been more of a miss than a hit so far but he's a key cog going forward if dell and Co decide he's the guy. EGs Houdini acts are annoying and that needs to be fixed somehow.

Rivers - Sadly he's probably finished for the year but you have to like hows hes played over the last month and I'm much more hopeful than 2 months ago. He needs to work on a few things:

Free throws(#1 priority IMO)
Finishing
Passing

Defense was his best asset and I'm completely fine if he turns into a guy that plays solid D and is a spark plug.

Mason: not much to say but wouldn't mind him back

SF: Chief - has had a very solid year and is still only 22. Needs to work on his shot obviously but has improved leaps and bounds over the past year. I expect him back but if he wants to get paid then no.

Miller - I like what I've seen and I think he should get more PT. Could become a nice bench piece for us in time.

Henry - meh he can go

PF:

AD- The brow is the centerpiece to pelican glory. He needs to eat some burgers and bulk up to play the 5 regularly. I've been a little disappointed with his defense but that's just inexperience/weight.

Very impressed with his offense

RYNO - He's the flamethrower for a good reason. Its rare to see a big with his skill set and its why he's such a great piece. My only complaint is his lack of defense but hopefully when AD bulks up he can mask that.

Thomas - better than Henry but that's not saying much.

C:

ROLO/Smiht - both solid bigs on good contracts but I feel we need a bulldozer to complement them.

Our needs:

SF - Porter is the guy IMO
Vet back up PG/SG: Udrih?
Bulldozer big

I don't think thats obvious at all. I think a lot of people on here are going to be pissed as the Hornets actively try to supplant him as the starter.

(also I guess it depends on what you mean by "immediate future"...I was counting in to next season and the trade deadline).

Rivers

AFA (if we resign) or a guy like Dante Cunningham, Josh Howard, Barnes, Brewer (likely cheap FA SFs)

Anderson

Lopez

Smith

A guy like Toney Douglas, Carlos Delfino, Shannon Brown (all free agents SGs who can score)

The above players would be solid coming off the bench. A good bench is an integral part of a successful team IMO.

Then we could display a starting unit of

PG Vasquez
SG Gordon
SF Porter/Shabazz/Bennett?/Oladipo
PF Davis
C Pekovic/Al Jefferson/Bynum (I think we need a legit center)

Obviously there is so much more to it than just saying "we will get X player in the draft and Y in free agency". I think it will be key to sign a veteran free agent at whatever position we draft in order to ease the young guy in. The draft pick may not be an instant starter, but hopefully can play 25 MPG a night.

I also think we need a big time center to take some pressure off Davis.

I keep seeing this name being thrown around on this board a lot. is this a legitimate possibility or just a fantasy? I would love to have him on this team

He will be a free agent. He currently makes $15m a year, though. Not sure what his next contract will look like, but we could probably afford him if we wanted to.

I would be one of them

I don't see exactly who we could get that wouldn't be a lateral move
