Saw it a 3rd time.
Even better.
Above Basterds imo.

Jesus dude. That's like 9 hours out of your life.

I would agree with that; but I didn't find Basterds to be some revelation of filmmaking to begin with.

If not for Leo and waltz, no one is praising this movie
Thanks for the great insight. Without one of the lead actors and leading supporting actors the movie wouldn't be as good?
How about a movie like Gangs of New York? How much praise does that get without DDL?
I'll admit their performances were the best of the movie but it is still a good and entertaining story, which is what a movie is supposed to be

how incredibly long and drawn-out it is (sorry, that story doesn't need 2 hrs 40 min to be told well)
This, to me, is the biggest drawback of the movie. After the big fight, they would have killed Foxx immediately, the movie seems extended in order to make Jackson appear to be the most evil of all, or at least worthy of some sort of revenge. I found Jackson to be more of a tragic figure, but that's just my 2 cents.

It's funny how everyone who saw it soon after the release thought it was great and now people are running on here trashing it after waiting to see it after reading all the good reviews. Either those posters are complete assclowns, trolling, or they simply built it up too much in their minds.
Django was awesome start to finish

Every notable movie thread does that.

I'm not sure if I posted it in this thread or another one, but I thought this was Tarantino's most enjoyable film. There are others that are more well made, and some of his other films have those "perfect" scenes. Django was just fun start to finish and it's still a very well made film.

or everyone was so excited for a new Tarantino movie that people dubbed it his best movie.ETA: he is a rare filmmaker that causes a certain energy before a premiere of his movie.
As in my first post, I said I liked it, I just thought it dragged on and didn't land on it's natural ending point. I elaborated and gave a critique on Jackson's character. I didn't read any reviews of the film. If this makes me trolling in your eyes, so be it. I just thought Inglorious Basterds and Pulp Fiction were better movies. I would defend this movie to those who say it suck, but it's not his best, that's all.

I was enjoying the hell out of the movie up to a point, but...
******SPOILERS******
It kinda lost me when somehow Django didn't get killed for shooting about a dozen of the white folks.
I know the whole thing is an absurdity anyway, but that leap was just too much after how much they had built up how terrible and evil all of the folks associated with this plantation are. Django should have died when he gave himself up.

But but but if they ended it earlier, how was QT going to work himself into the movie

Just saw it last night. I came in with high expectations and it met them. I wasn't sure how good Jamie Foxx would be in the movie and I was pleasantly surprised with how well he did I felt Leo did a great job getting into character and overall was one of his best performaces.l the only thing I didn't like was why was his sister's character really even in the movie? Idk it bothered me. Samuel L Jackson I felt did a good job and seeing him tell his master what to do "meet me in the library" and then seeing him drinking wine Infront of the fire was a great scene because of how the roles quickly reversed & you see that he's alot smarter than he leads you to believe. Waltz also did a good job and it was interesting to see how such a power oriented person reacted to seeing Candi get the upper hand on him.
Overall I really liked it and felt it was a very good movie.
And the poster that posted the link of his interview/debate with the journalist was a great read

To say that they make up for an otherwise boring script with bland characters
