Sammy's Shrimp Poboy.

For this month's installment of "Best Shrimp Po Boy in BR" the answer once again starts and ends with Dempseys. Tune in as late as next month, or as early as next week, to discuss this topic again.

I love Mike's in Gonzales. Grilled shrimp poboy from On the Halfshell is great. Just told the wife we need to check out Tommy's. Heard nothing but great stuff about this joint.

If you ever find yourself out in Gonzales check out Mikes Poboys off Burnside down the street from EAHS. It's the best I've had in the area.
I concur.
Dempsey's, Sammy's etc don't use real poboy bread, by definition they are disqualified. They may have a great shrimp sandwich, but it ain't a poboy.

Certainly you can't be serious.

It really doesn't exist in BR. Too many places use the wrong type of bread and not enough shrimp. The key is smaller shrimp piled high. NOT big arse shrimp with 5 per side. Sammy's is famous for this shite. Tommy's in P-Ville & Dempsey's is about the best you'll find up here.

It's not even debatable. 50-60 count and piled up. That's the way God intended a shrimp po-boy to be made.
eta: The sad thing about BR is I can get what's in the picture at most gas stations in N.O.

I like George's for what it is. Never been to Dempseys.

Dempsey's...but I would cast a secondary vote for Jasmin's on the Bayou

Nothing wrong with Po-boy express

Go to olde Tyme in Lafayette for a real shrimp po boy

I don't agree. Bread is not toasted and breading on the shrimp easily falls off. They definitely load it up and the 'Cup and Half' menu item is a real bargain. Definitely not the best. I too am seeking a real Best BR Shrimp Po Boy.

not Dempsey's!!!! That place sucks and only has a crowd because of the location - went three times and it was progressively worse each time. The shrimp poboy was mealy and had zero crunch at all
