I liked the ending. It stayed pretty true to the book.

I'm late on this thread. Just discovered the show. I have been aware of the novel for a minute -- always wanted to read it. Just never found the time. Watched the show over the last few days.
Jesus Christ Franco was shite. He's terrible. I actually really like the guy, I want to buy his stock as an actor, but he was terrible. That being said, I enjoyed the narrative for what it was. It was not optimal by any means, there was so much more that could have been done, but as a person not familiar with the story, it was suitably engaging. I'm totally going to read the novel now. The yellow card man was totally abandoned. To me that seemed significant, and it shows up in the end. That's really curious.

Yellow card man has little to do with the novel, until later. I've not seen the show but just got finished with the book. So I don't want to spoil a book twist for you.
Anybody here read and watch?
Does it complete the novel in one season?
Is Sadie played by a hot actress?
Does it follow the book exactly?

So much from the book that I will be furious or do they just omit some parts?
For me the novel irritated me. Possible spoiler. ....................
But the assault and hospital stay near the end.
Was that in the series too.
For the book it seemed like fluff to me, and was 80 pages wasted.

Yes, that's in there too, bit they rearranged a lot of that aspect of the novel and how it led up to it.
For me, the changes were enough to really piss me off - some major changes - but not enough that I regretted watching it. After a few episodes, I just had to resign myself to the fact that the series is its own animal. I more or less told myself that if it were going to be exactly like the book, then there would be no need to watch. I rationalized my way out of hating it.

It's their and it's fluff in the series as well

I enjoyed it but I wish they threw in more about the assassination than him dealing with Sadie or Bill. The ending kind of had the feels for me.

Bump.
Wow.
I am two episodes in and it is definitely just ok. They needed to leave it alone. 800 page book has plenty of fluff.
2 errors that I thought were glaring. And definitely not Mad Men like in execution.
Frank Dunning says, "help a brother out."? In 1960? That predates the hippy use of the word brother and urban slang. No way that was a term in 1960.
Episode one Jake drives through Dealey Plaza and gets out. There are VERY modern stop lights in the background. But that is a little nit picky.
Only 2 episodes in.

I just finished watching the series and was pretty pleased with it. I haven't read the book, but the show itself was good (I enjoyed the Stand easter eggs) and the ending was far better than King's usual conclusions (people saying the book's ending was better makes me want to read the book now).
And Sarah Gadon...
dayum.

Nice bump! I really enjoyed this series, but the ending was a gut shot.

Way too dark - they scenes at the butcher were ridiculous
