Update: New Situation
Received an email response from Herb Vincent on Friday morning, this guy is good. He contacted the parking department and confirmed that trailers are allowed on campus in non-reserved, non-restricted lots. The lot in question is not reserved, nor is it restricted. With that confirmation, I prepared for my battle with security and possibly the police.
With my fan guide and a, printed out, personal email from herb,we left at our usual time around 3am Saturday morning. Unfortunately, the trailer has a blow out and the spare is back at the house. Fast forward 3 hours and we arrive at campus to a car parked in our tailgating location and some tents set up next to it....Guess who....the rent a cop who kicked us out last game.
To keep myself from going to jail, I took a walk towards the stadium on stadium drive, if I stayed, the guy would have gotten a beat down and I would miss the game. On my walk I noticed an empty spot where we sometimes see the same crew and then other games they dont show up. I walked back to the truck, where I found Mr rent a cop pinned to the ground by a friend of mine. Seems he started to get a little cocky while I was cooling off. I told everyone to get in and we went down the street to the other location.
:New Situation:
By now its almost 7am and we proceed to set up in this other location. We complete our setup, DJ equipment, TV's, Satellite, Tents, Grills, cookers, etc and as soon as I grab my first drink someone is bitching to us that we are in their spot.....
Im not a fan of taking others tailgating locations, but in this situation, Im not feeling so bad. Its 8am, your just showing up and you only show up for some games and you want us to move. Are we wrong in this situation, we like the new spot, would be wrong in continuing to tailgate there?

we had the similar situation occur right outside the student section entrance, in front of the p-mac (Krewe of Knowbodies)
basically LSU wanted the space..and Oh, by the way, you are going to move! no matter what. I thought it was rather stupid and they had no reason to move us. They wanted to "sell" vendor space. Funny thing is, we weren't in any way close to invading the "vendor" space.
I feel your pain dude!

if not for the blowout do you think you could have gotten in your spot? tough situation, i haul our trailer with gear, and until i park in our spot i have this weird feeling driving to the game that someone might mess it up.

I have the same feeling every Friday afternoon when I am driving to drop off the trailer. I get all fired up right before I get to campus just in case there is someone in our spot, but I have never had a confrontation. I asked someone to move last year and they did.

I always have that anxiety feeling driving to the game, sometimes to the point where I find my self driving too fast.
We didnt find out what time they had gotten there to set up, but from the looks of it, they had to be there a few hours.

i believe in first come first serve. if you want to keep your spot get there early enough. they are not reserved by pay, so they must be reserved by effort.

first come first served is also my motto, don't care if you've been there for 15 years!
Posted on 9/29/08 at 10:05 am to josh336
i would tell them "15 years? really? cause i was here 3 hours ago and didn't see you." of course this would be after i offer to split the spot and just make one big party.

In nonreserved lots, it is first come, first serve. It is very arrogant of people to ask anyone to move out of one of those spots. If you absolutely must park and tailgate in the same spot every game, then you absolutely must get there early enough to pull into said spot.

we put out stuff to hold our spot the day before, just like MANY others...............

to all,
the worst tailgating time would be when you just pissed off your "tailgating neighbors". everybody is out to have a good time, but this could ruin it. we all know it is first come, first served, but realize there is no "new spots" that haven't been discovered. every inch of ground has been used, it is only "YOU" that is new. so, keep that in mind, most people will help you, so make friends not foes....

We actually spoke to the other tailgaters around us and they do not like the group whos location we set up in.
They said when they do show up, they are always late and they always run off whoever is in their spot.
So the tailgating neighbors didnt mind that we aere there, they just didnt like our taste in music or how loud it was, so we turned it down a bit when asked.

This is why we set up on the Parade Ground. We ALWAYS get our normal spot because we're out there early enough, and no one really complains because there's like 7 acres of room...
The sigep pledges have finally learned though where their spot is in comparision to ours...had to do a little talking for the North Texas game...but they were cool about it.

part of your message is true....
but not everyone will welcome everyone.
I have experienced that '
"I have been here - Go Away attitude"
I agree on courtesy, but the ones there must also understand that they are in a "first come-first served area".
The idea that they have a greater right, is not so.

what's the saying?
out with the old and in with the new.
keep that in mind when you are beat to your spot. the people who try and keep "their spot" by kicking people out who got there first are the ones who would be making foes and not friends.

We park two trucks Friday night. It's always better to be sure then to have your stomach churning on Saturday morning.

Yeah this sounds like a conflict of interest to me. I would have went up to the guy and politely introduced myself showed him the email from herb and let him know that he should not abuse his limited power as a rent a cop in the future to save his spot. I would then sucker punch him, rip his badge off and then for good measure piss on all of his stuff to mark your territory.

With no home game for 3 weeks, everyone should be fresh and ready to go for UGA. Get there early.
Anyone going to S.Carolina? We are hitting up LSU on Sat and the Saints @ Panthers on Sunday.

those rent a cops shure like to inforce their power. every week it's a different one, trying to make new rules.
