We also left Marceaux in when we could have went to Fontenot.
If Hilliard had runners first and third I would have been OK with taking him out.

don’t think anyone even had it in their mind to even suggest pulling him after 76 pitches.
So let’s say he had 2 runners on base and let’s say he was at 80 pitches with the go ahead at the plate.
I still don’t think we would be calling to pull him.
We would ride our guy.
There was no reason to pull Hilliard unless Hilliard asked to come out.
Ding, turn the page
Shows how little many are even paying attention. Hilliard hasn’t thrown more than 80 pitches only once all year. He had 1-2-3 coming up in the 6th.
It wasn’t a crazy move - plain and simple.

Yes it was a crazy move because the season is on the line.
We’re not talking about a midweek game.

Who gives a shite it’s the postseason, you don’t follow what’s been done the rest of the year strictly as your guide. If he was at 96 pitches? Sure pull him, but the kid is on a heater and at a reasonable amount of pitches. You cannot pull him there

He’s only started the last 5 weeks and Paul used him with kid gloves every time outside of Auburn

So he readily admits to buying into the pipe dream that an overly erratic Coleman would find lighting in a bottle in 2 successive outings.
That's just great.
That's just great.

If we went into Game 1 of a Super with the mindset that we’d be “happy” to get 5 innings out of our starting pitcher, then he shouldn’t have been our starting pitcher to begin with. Or you have the wrong mindset.
1. Hilliard has only pitched more than 5ip twice all season
2. He started on weird rest schedule after pitching twice last weekend
3. He pitched through a rain delay todsy
4. Coleman Vs their LH power hitters was more ideal than Hilliard pitching to their lineup 3rd time around
5 the defense let Coleman Down

I assume you meant to type hasnt*
This is game 1 in a super regional at the end of his season. He may never pitch again
He was very capable of going another inning or 2 with the way he was throwing
If you you’re agreeing with the decision to yank him, well that just shows how little you know about the game.
But you’re an expert on tennis so I’ll digress

It wasn’t crazy. Coleman is a called K away from winning 2-1.

Didn’t he give up a double and 3 walks?

Can’t really disagree there
I know there were some bonehead plays while Coleman was in,...were there any errors charged? Had to be at least one

Well the one that ignited it was strike 3 that Milazzo failed to catch competently
The Doughty make a terrible play on a weak contact ball

Our offense was putrid. No great reason to think we’d score again. You have to coach as if 2-2 is basically a loss there IMO. You’ve got to get through the line up one more time with someone before your closer. Starting Coleman with a fresh inning isn’t a terrible idea.
I’m saying the decision to yank him has a few good reasons, just as the decision to keep him in would have.

Paul has a thing for Coleman. He had him tossing for almost two innings just waiting to go in for a senior who was shoving it.
Mostly Ump problems.

If this had been one of only a few questionable pitching moves that had backfired you could possibly overlook it but this has become a very noticeable pattern for Maineri

So that’s a yes on a double and there walks then?

One play
Coleman had 1 out, then walked a guy after having a 0-2 count, then he gave up a double, then the error. then a walk, then a ground out, then a single, then he got out of the inning.
Coleman was anything but sharp when he entered the game.

Well I just don’t see how you justify pulling him at 76 pitches, in the lead, shite it going well, he’s grooving.
Taking him out the game changed everything
It changed the entire game.

Fielders choice cause he attempted to tag the guy rather then the batter at 1st
Play should have been to home. He wasn’t prepared
