"God's plan" God does not save us from earthly suffering

I am believer and a Christian. But all too often I hear people say "God has a plan" as if his plan is to save them from impending earthly suffering. I have been hearing this alot in in light of what has happened this election and going back to March. God does not save us from earthly suffering, and we may be on our way to some of that soon.
Suffering is not a new concept for most of human history, I don't understand why Americans think they are immune from it. It is our job while on earth to try and prevent it, but I don't understand sitting and waiting for God to fix it for us.

God does have a plan... but no where in the Bible does it say that the plan is to have America as the greatest country in history for the rest of eternity.
His plan is to ultimately end sin, pain, suffering, etc... for those who accept him as Savior. The pain and suffering will continue for those who do not.
God's plan is to never give us more than we can handle when we have him leading our decisions.
I was contemplating this on the way to work today. God never said that we'd have it easy. But despite all the despair that may come to us, there is a peace and a comfort in recognizing that regardless of what chapter we may be on in this epic titled "The Human Race", the ending was written a long long time ago, and Christians should know the spoilers.

Moses acted, David acted, Paul acted, but us praying and then getting behind a keyboard is not acting. (Heard someone say that).

As a weekly church going Christian I’ve never understood this. America is no more chosen by God than anyone else. God has a plan for believers from the events of revelations. God allows free will, for good or bad amongst humans, which includes masses of evil people we have free will to stop from being evil towards us.

Anyone who’s truly read the Bible should know Gods plan be impact current events for the good or the bad, in a micro sense.
The ones that don’t understand that are the ones who think God is an arse when things don’t work out nicely. They need to read again methinks.

God does have a plan
But many MANY Christians don’t realize that plan is God judging THEM for inaction and laziness

Saw this post this morning. I think a great reminder for any Christian who is all of the sudden worrying about "suffering".

America is no more chosen by God than anyone else.
They have used this interpretation as justification for expanding consumerism and exploitation of the earth’s resources and peoples towards expanding their power and wealth for their own imperialist ends. Almost exactly the opposite of “God’s plan”.
And the Democratic Party uses their demonization of these “Christian conservatives” for almost the identical goals.
I shudder to imagine what the realization of “God’s plan” will ultimately be once His real plan comes to fruition.

Peter was crucified
Paul Beheaded.
But I'm sure Jim Bob out there on his computer is going to be caught up in a rapture next week so as to spare him discomfort.
If George Washington had had that attitude, we would all be wondering what the hell was going on at Buckingham Palace right now.

I'm a Christian, and I firmly believe that evangelicals are such easy marks for politicians. As long as you say you're pro life and maybe something about the gays, we couldn't care less what you do.
People whining on facebook about "suffering" in the face of an election really piss me off when you think of what goes on in the rest of the world for other believers. We're not in danger of being pulled from our church's and being shot or beheaded. We don't have to hold "secret church" because it's illegal in our country. Some bad political man says we can't meet indoors and we have to wear masks: JESUS COME NOW!!!

The best, IMHO, logical argument for atheism is the argument from evil. That there is too much suffering in the world for a good God to exist.
However, logically speaking, it would not be possible for humans to learn about empathy, sympathy, self-sacrifice, or charity were it not for some amount of evil to exist.
It is our job to fight and prevent evil. And there are lots of kinds of evil to fight.
Liberal stupidity is one such evil.

Because she thinks that democrats winning the election will lead to more of the horrors listed in your little screed.
Biggest problem with progressives is they are so hubristic you completely miss obvious logical failing in your worldview because you assume you're right all the time.
A little humility would serve you well.

Well said. God's plan encompasses the entire world of people, not just our little section of it. Is the decline in America symbolic of what is going on world side, yes, but it's not exclusive and isn't the only factor that will play a part in the Lord's return.

You may have a point if you know they have never talked about suffering outside of this election's results. It is highly unlikely that is the case.

The governmental overreach has been just a bit more complex than this, but you already knew that.

Well said, Atheists who use this 'why would a loving God..." argument arent nearly as smart as they think they are. The question has a very logical answer.
