The people giving him C or above for the results of this season are delusional at best. 5-5 is average at LSU?

I’d give him a D at best.... but I know you are enjoying O failing...... you are not much of a fan.....

C- bordering on D. Both grades are a FAIL in my book though.
The C- is only attained due to the recruiting haul.

Overall Grade C-
- Recruiting - A
+Bring in 5-6 more good quality players and this could be an A+
- Off-season coaching hires - F
+ No explanation needed here
- Keeping / retaining players for the 2020 season - D
- Week to week in-season game planning - D
- Player Development - C
+ There are both good and bad examples of players progressing and shining, and of players that have been on the roster for a couple of years NOT producing
- Dealing with all of the drama going on and keeping what's left of this team together to close out the season - B-
+ Close out the season tomorrow with a W and this could get bumped to a B
Fair? Have I missed anything?

Overall: B
He has managed through a season with no off-season and a ton of attrition.
Recruiting alone is an A. We look good heading into next season and beyond.

A good manager [or CEO] has the ability to constantly assess the situations around him be willing to and adjust. While the greatest plans may exist for annual performance, there are times when those can't be executed. Sometimes, that means to shut the whole machine down just to sharpen and maintain [and totally back off on the idea of RETOOLING]. Along those lines, my biggest knock on O was not stepping in when Covid hit [after two spring practices] with the transition to a 4-3 when the primary personnel was still in place for a successful 3-4. We likely would have kept a few more key components of our defense and that likely would have made the difference of two additional wins.
A good manager also trusts, but verifies. Give Pelini the keys and walk away after he has proven his stuff with the current roster. There was absolutely no excuse for not going and looking at Chris Peterson's defensive scheme at Washington vs The Air Raid at Washington State. Doing so would have totally had us win the Mississippi State game solely based upon scheme and even with Stingley out of that game.
On Roster Management, he gets an Incomplete until we see who he truly convinces to come back on the Offensive Line.
On Communication, he gets the biggest F of his career as a head coach. Don't air your dirty laundry in public [that goes more to past seasons]. Don't create sound bites that can be used against you by your opponents. Don't create sound bites that can cause issues with your staff or your players. Keep it Simple. Keep it Quiet. Don't give out high hopes about things that you cannot absolutely guarantee. In other words, Don't allow you to be perceived as being wrong in public unless it is taking blame for a failure after the fact. The guy absolutely needs a PR Department that pretty much preps him to steer away from topics that aren't in his realm.
I give him an A for being honest with the recruits about a down year despite his failure to do so with the fans on some of the items eluded to above.
On hiring, he gets a D. I'm one of those that believes his transition from taking less to paying assistants more to taking the big pay day should have consequences when his take is impacting the bottom line as concerns dollars and cents available to be nimble. If he has to cut bait this off season and has to pay for some of that himself, then he should.

D minus for the season. It was an F prior to Florida.
A minus for recruiting thus far, but the recruiting year is not over.
O needs to replace his coordinators or he will fail.

For all the right buttons he pushed in hiring Brady and keeping Aranda, he whiffed on Pelini (who knew?) Linehan, and keeping Ensminger as a play-caller. Get one yard against Mizzou and beat Ole Piss and the season feels a like a C. Recruiting Class is Top 5 from the prognosticators so gotta go A there for sure.

D- for recruiting! We have a top 3/4 class in the country! LSU pulled in some studs. Worst grade in recruiting has to be a B at absolute worst!
