Has the economy tanked enough to cause new boat dealers to be willing to negotiate more liberally on prices?

No, still selling the shite out of boats for some reason

Joe Plantworker still making money, working overtime and getting stimulus checks while his ole lady cutting hair on the side for cash and making $847 a week because her salon isn't essential. His economy is booming.

I talked to the guy that own boats unlimited in Airline 2 weeks ago. He wasn’t even open. He said he had to close down operation because he wasn’t essential. No selling or fixing boats was going to crush him. You may see some in his situation try to get some quick sales once the quarantine s officially up.

I have a customer writing a check for one Friday. It is a smaller boat though so it will only be around 17k after taxes

That’s because boats unlimited sucks!
I bought a new boat last month. The boating market will be fine.
Boat show pricing has been extended thru end of April which never happens so they still pushing. My local dealer is closed to public but still operating. most sales are being done by appt only as are parts are pickup only.

I bought a new motor last week

No, and the price of non-ethanol fuel has not come down like the rest of gas prices.

Just like anything else most dealers have floor plans on whole goods. Yes, there’s still some that pay cash. Some dealers stay open using social distancing.
Some dealers are staying open doing sales by appointment only, parts picking up by appointment, and yes you got to clean clean clean and clean all areas people come in contact with.
I think the finance companies that finance the floor plans will work with the mfg’s to extend terms before dealers will have to pay interest on the whole goods. Instead of 365 terms you may see it get extended.
You might see some mfg rebates when businesses get back going. I don’t think it be huge discounts though.
Right now you have to be creative to do business as no one never in a million years would have predicted this.

Went fishing this weekend in Bayou Black and I saw more brand new Phoenix's and Bass Cats than anything else on the water. It was crazy. Cajun Outboards must be rolling right now

Saw a new RT198 with 150 on it fishing by me when my trolling motor went out Thursday in Bayou Black...
Had me itching.
Found a corroded wire clip under the pedal. Switched out and let the itch pass. Whew!

I'm kind of glad he 198's weren't out when I bought mine. I would of definitely bought the 198. The only thing I would change about my boat is the speed.
Have you seen the Excel bass boat. Cajun has one.

People have nothing else to do but go fishing right now.
The people who could afford a boat are likely essential employees anyways

Me too. Ah well. Mine has been paid off for 3 years, killed 2-300 ducks out of, caught salt and fresh water fish, caught crabs, jug lined, pulled kids around.
It's doing it's job and still looks fairly new.
I agree on the speed. Give me 10-15 more mphs for long straight runs and I would be a little bit happier.

Excel bass boat.
My next boat will probably be a Southern Fab bass style with 150-175. My bro-in-law designed and had one built before the Southern Fab owner built his own, and it is bad arse.

I was looking at a Ranger RB200 and really like the layout. Anyone have any experience with them or any recommendations for anything similar?

I agree. I hit 52.3 this weekend with that wind at my back on a chop though
