Got a feeling this backfires.

Was thinking the same thing about LSU and their plan to go online
Not so much about how little we do but how unnecessary it is to physically be on campus

Maybe this thing will get people out of offices permanently and doing meaningful things like being with family, fishing/hunting, playing sports, creating art, cooking, writing

Smart businesses that send there people to WFH will monitor which departments keep up or increase their productivity and tell them they don't have to come back to the office.

That's assuming this shitshow lasts long enough to make a reasonable assessment.

Or they will see that they can automate a lot of tasks and that physical worksites are increasingly obsolete in a digital world.

WFH, IMO has to be done a certain way to be effective.

Do everything you usually do, shower, normal work clothes or close to it, start time, etc. establish a work environment.

Don’t jerk off.

Too much.

If you are able to do your job remotely why would you ever be required to work in an office again ?

I haven't been to our office in three years.

I can walk around and handful of offices around time that are fully staffed and see how little work most of them do. It’s crazy we’re still stuck in the 40 hour work week mentality. I have a fairly busy job at times, but I’d say on average in only spend 30 or so hours a week on actual work.

I've been fortunate enough to work from home for the last couple of years with the stipulation that I go into the office 1-2 times per week. I get WAY, WAY more done from home. There are way too many distractions at the office.

Companies will start to wise up on this and allow people to work from home. Of course you have to trust your employees.

I can work for 4 hours at home and get much more done in 8 hours at the office. That means I can have more time for myself - exercise, healthy eating, taking some time to relax. All of those things I can do and still get much more done than I do in the office.

It only backfires if you're a lazy shite who wasnt earning their paycheck in the first place. Sounds like a win-win scenario.

Mandatory remote days are an overreaction.

I won't complain because I get more work done at home.

no - the people who are shitty employees that work from home, will show they are shitty employees by not producing results.

people that give a shite about the job will continue to be productive with no dropoff.

I personally like going into the office, but it would be nice to work from home a couple days a week.

I’m the type of person that needs interaction with people on a pretty regular basis, so even if i was just as productive working from home, i would go stir crazy from the isolation if I were to work from home full time.

My dad has worked remotely for about 10 years and he’s fine with it, but he is pretty antisocial and writes code all day. Definitely not my style.

It is a great point. Buy stock in Netflix. I have worked from home for almost 20 years. It is amazing the free time you have w no coworkers to worry about. Lunch is 10 minutes at home. At my old office it consumed 2 hours. The planning the ordering and the hour off.

I work task today task now. Complete one, mess around....then move to the next. I plan my weeks and it all gets done
