#45 in the JL highlight is a beast

yeah, I'd hate to see him coming after me haha

Maybe I'm a glass half-empty kinda guy, but those highlights make worry about our cornerbacks...especially the long throw to Byrd where he juked everyone out. But I guess Demetrius is just that good
Hatch's arm strength appears to be mediocre at best.

Nice highlights. Thanks.
Of course, highlights and arm strength don't tell the whole story. Pocket presence, ball security, reading defenses, and leadership, especially in the 4th quarter in tough games, also matter. I think Hatch will initially start based on having the extra year experience and his offseason progress. But I think Les and Crowton are going to use the first 3 games when live bullets are fired to settle on a starter for the SEC games, so we should see both of them at the beginning of the year.

I think it will come down to who is the smartest of the two qbs, and who can protect the ball the best. They seem to have similar skill sets. Hatch looks to be the better scrambler and passing ability looks to be about even.
Our O-Line will be dominant and our receivers and RB's are outstanding. We also have Richard Dickson, Trindon, and Crowton. I believe our offense will be fine this year.

if the defense and offense gel together quickly, who knows what could happen this year...?

I agree, with as much talent we going to have around the ball on offense and another top 5 defense, all we need is a qb to manage the game and let the athletes take over!

no problem!
many LSU fans have not seen them.

quote:"Fine" is a relative term. If you mean "fine" based on how he can play against Middle Tenn. or in a scrimmage, I'll give you that. If you mean "fine" based on competing at FLA or at AUB against those defenses, I'd say it's debatable. If you mean "fine" compared to how well Flynn and Russell did, I seriously doubt it.
I believe our offense will be fine this year
I hope the best for the Kid, but I doubt he is going to set the world on fire.

If Hatch plays like that in summer practice, then he will start. His biggest problem is he's had surgery on his knee and I guarantee you they'll do a lot of options and designed plays while he's in. Big injury risk.
However, Lee outshined Hatch in spring practice (before the game) and has the better arm. That pass to Byrd was money and if he can do that consistently, then he will be an outstanding QB.
Notice also a lot of those clips showed Hatch playing with #2 offense vs #1 D. Deciding between 2 able QBs: What a great problem to have.

mauck did not have a bad arm, he just wasn't that good of a decision maker

it wasnt a "JR" arm, but it was good enough.

LSU's been blessed to have great leaders at QB this decade.
