Drew Brees: Paying a Salary of $30 Million per season is ludricrous

Brees turns 41 years old January 15. If he does decide to return as his teammates expect, he will need a new contract, one that likely will pay him in excess of $30 million annually based on the contracts other high-level quarterbacks signed in the past year.
If Brees is wanting and expecting $30M per season to return to the Saints, then let him walk. He can take much less, and free up cap space to add more depth and talent. Need to address the areas of WR, DB, and the DL for starters.

And what QB do you bring in to make a championship bring that won't cost around that?

Yes let’s all overreact to random press speculation based on deals other QBs have made

brees never asked to be the highest paid QB, not once ever
all he asked for was fair market value for the position and his level of play (top 5 pay) so get outta here with acting like drew is being greedy and hes the problem.
if we paid him $30 mill a year he would be in the middle teens as far as rankings of what other teams pay their starting QBs
$40 mill is what dak is asking for, let that sink in, DAK frickin prescott is asking for $40 mill

fair but you got to go 10 deep to get below 27 mill a year on top qb salaries and that's before the dak and winston and tannehill's of the world re-sign.

Brees is royalty. If he wants to play one or two seasons making more money than he's actually worth, you are going to bend over and take it, because that's what he's earned.

In 14 seasons with the Saints, Brees has earned over $231 Million. He earned another $13 million during 5 years with the Chargers. Brady took less salary the past 5-8 years so that NE could compete and win championships. Just saying Brees at the end of his career isn't worth mortgaging the Saints' future after he's gone at $30 Million per season.
take a look at these guys: Andrew Luck, Tom Brady, Eli Manning, Philip Rivers, Andy Dalton, Nick Foles, Marcus Mariota, Teddy Bridgewater(5-0), Josh Rosen, Taysom Hill. Then draft a QB this season.

Whats Teddy gonna cost? Cause if Teddy had started that playoff game we would still be playing.

Brady's wife has a net worth of about $400 million, just saying

Teddy filled in pretty nicely with what seemed like a more inspired defense having his back.

You don't know that at all. What we do know is that Bridgewater got sacked at a much higher rate than Brees did. So for some reason you think Bridgewater would have been able to avoid the Vikings defenders that were living in the backfield.

Additionally, over past 10 year Brees's cap hit has been 189 million. Brady's has been 139. That works out to about 4 million a year. When I look at it that way and the numbers it isn't as out of whack as everyone thinks. Go look back at our defensive numbers in our 3 7-9 seasons. Historically bad. 4 mill isn't going to make a huge difference there.

Bad contracts did us in those years.
Blame Brees, ignores the fact we had 8 figure dead money from galette, Byrd, etc.
Give me a break

That is what I am saying. Brees's contract wasn't the problem those years.

I didn't mean to target that to you. Just to emphasize on your post.
30mil of 200mil is 15% of the salary cap.
That's lower than his initial 5/100mil...in 2012
