I only remember the pokes because my wife went there and I give her shite for having a football team who goes and plays at the rent a win’s stadium.

Not too different than what LSU and Tulane attempted to do in the mid 2000s.

Skip Bertman did a lot of great things as AD, but this was not one of them. It started as a 10 year, home and home series. One of the first things Alleva did when he was hired was to get LSU out of the deal. It didn't make sense financially to play Tulane in New Orleans every other year. Tulane got pissed at the idea of coming to BR every year, and LSU bought them out of the contract.

I live in Virginia and have been asking this for weeks. Nobody knows or they just do not care.

I don't really consider ECU to be on the level of ODU and South Alabama. Historically they are a decent program and ECU's stadium seats over 50k, and they usually fill it up.

Not really concerned if it made financial sense. They're our rival and I really wish we played them annually. But just as importantly I wish they took athletics seriously enough that it would be a good series. College football is alll about financial sense now and it's been taking out a lot of the fun for close to a decade.

So what’s the recruiting pitch here? It’s easy for their friends and family to watch a game once every 2 years locally? Seems like a weak arse argument to get a recruit?

Does watching the team play at an away stadium really help your recruiting? I can’t remember a time I’ve hesrd a recruit say, ‘I didn’t really like X program but they I saw them play AT Y school and I was sold!’

Pretty sure this isn't possible. I don't think FBS schools can play at FCS schools.

Not a bad idea, just backfired horribly.

Maybe schedule @ Hampton next time?

Dude, it isn't 1967 anymore.

Actually, I guess the last time this "rivalry" was a thing was back in the mid-80's when they had the big brawl at the end of the game. That has been 30+ years ago.

Tulane should be no more of a blip on LSU's radar than ULL or LA Tech. I have no desire to play them, and if we did, beating them would mean no more to me than beating Southeastern. I also have no desire to help those stuck up pricks financially by giving them $1M to play in Tiger Stadium.

It wasn't a rivalry outside of NOLA at any part of my time as a tiger fan.. early 70s

A lot of bigger schools offer “multiple games for 1” deals to smaller schools.

ULL is a classic example. They’ve done it with Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Alabama in the past. LA Tech had a similar arrangement with Mississippi State a few years ago.

I can't argue that....but we would still be forced to associate with all 8 dozen of their fans who live to hate LSU.

I'm surprised there's never been a powerhouse program in the Tidewater area. Swamp land = good athletes.

Not UVA that I can recall in recent history.
