Not all Tulane fans hate LSU, mostly just the old timer die-hards. The series had run its course anyway, the programs went in two different directions and it wasn't fun anymore. It just doesn't make sense for either school to play each other. LSU might as well schedule SELA, ULL, La Tech, McNeese. Tulane might as well get their shite pushed in by the Ohio State's and Auburn's of the world to get a paycheck

Pretty sure this isn't possible. I don't think FBS schools can play at FCS schools.

Didnt Army lose to Yale AT Yale a few years ago?

Yeah 2014. The Yale bowl also holds 64k so not a typical FCS stadium.

There isn’t a rule prohibiting FBS schools from playing at FCS schools as far as I know.

I'm all for the Tigers playing an "away" game with UNLV when the Raiders stadium opens.

I have run into my fair share of 20 and 30-somethings that loathe LSU, also.

Do you know the history of why Tulane left the SEC? I know a lot of random facts from that era, but that one has escaped me. Obviously looking back at it now, it would have probably been in their best interest to stay in the league. If Vandy could survive, surely Tulane could have also.

I'm shocked that more schools aren't scheduling 2 for 1's with UNLV. It gives boosters an excuse to spend a weekend in Vegas and see their team play at the same time. Wisconsin has done this, as well as a couple of Pac 12 schools over the years.

Also, tech is the only team I can recall that has played an away cupcake game other than Miami a few years ago.

Miami went to Toledo this year.
Wake Forest went to Tulane this year.
Kansas went to Central Michigan this year.
Mississippi State went to LA Tech last year.
Duke went to Tulane in 2015.
GA Tech went to Tulane in 2014. (First ever game in Yulman Stadium.)
Texas A&M played LA Tech in Shreveport in 2012, technically neutral (I guess).
Oklahoma State went to ULL in 2010.
Kansas State went to ULL in 2009.

Those are off the top of my head mixed with some research.

Here is an article detailing all of this years traveling Power 5 schools to lesser schools.

Tulane left the SEC because they wanted to "de-emphasize" athletics and focus on academics. For a school that is supposed to be smart, this decision makes no Damn sense. There was also talks of forming a "southern ivy league" that never fell through.

As there is no "Southern Ivy League," I'd say it successfully fell through.

You know a lot of random facts but dont know that? Jesus what a twat.

Tulane left the SEC for the same reason they did not become the first 'southern team' to play in the rose bowl game (which they would play in a few years later).

Academics. The president wanted to focus more on academics AND he didn't think staying in the SEC was smart for the program. He knew the program was struggling in the conference and felt going independent was the best option.

For one thing, Virginia Tech never played at James Madison, because JMU is an FCS program. That never happens, except last week when someone did because of Florence on short notice.

VT just got upset by JMU at home.

most of those P5s are not the bluebloods like Bama or Ohio St... Miami's a special case.

Plus IMO the AAC and MWC are a cut above the other G5 conferences

VA Tech recruits heavily in the Tidewater. A number of players are from Norfolk.

That's what I was told by a Navy buddy who lives there.

BAMA played USL in Lafayette in 1990. The stadium only held about 35,000.

It is true, because they have to and here in the Richmond area. The rest of the state has little D-1 talent.

You'll see a lot more of this when the new stadium is completed. Sam Boyd is small and located well away from the Strip, Downtown and the Airport. The new stadium will be just across I-15 from the Strip and not far from the Airport.

I was told that by a VT fan as well but I don’t understand why they can’t recruit the hell out of that area either way. Am I missing something or is Virginia Tech not a major football program. If they’re not owning the recruiting scene in all of Virginia, Maryland and DC then they just need to do a better job recruiting.

If I am a kid in a metro area with my pick of DI offers, Blacksburg will always be a hard sell, even if I live in Virigina Beach.

Tuscaloosa and Baton Rouge both suck but kids get in line to play there. That’s a crap excuse.
