Come on. You know how that works. The 22% from gambling does go to education. It is just that all of the other money that used to go to education no longer does.

They have connections to national leftist groups and are well funded and they have a lot of help from locals who see their name and join because it's PC.

while i agree with the overall sentiment of your post. The Baton Rouge ExxonMobil Chemical Processing plant cannot provide that many more jobs than it currently does to the region. Maybe a dozen here or there for a processing expansion, but let's not forget ExxonMobil has provided employment for thousands of hard working people in Baton Rouge for decades.
This teacher's union and whatever TBR is, need to just shut the frick up and take what's being handed to them. Without ExxonMobil, Baton Rouge is nothing more than Alexandria or Donaldsonville even.

which doesn't mean a fricking thing to an o&g corporation the size of XOM. Why do i have serious doubt that anyone over in Irving, TX has even read this cute little Advocate piece this morning.

All those LA politicians are using taxpayers' money to buy their kids school supplies at private schools.

Every time I see a TBR bumper sticker it's either on a Prius or some giant piece of shite car with a million other left wing bumper stickers on it. They're a bunch of wolves in sheep's clothing.

So Exxon is going to spend millions but not create more jobs? If they don't spend millions, what is going to happen? Will EBR lose jobs? Is Exxon leaving?
My point is these things should be discussed. Initially Exxon came to EBR, invested a lot of money and was given generous tax breaks. This continued as Exxon expanded. I want it to continue and it should continue, but as best as I can tell each Exxon project created construction and permanent jobs.
If Exxon or anyone else simply wants to take advantage of these generous tax breaks I believe they should submit to the proper authorities showing the positive impact to the community so it can be determined if their project is earning the exemption.
And as a long term investor, I think Exxon's application should be fast tracked so that they know EBR is their partner and not their enemy.

What is the Teacher's Union and Together Baton Rouge's point attacking Exxon
Together Baton Rouge has expanded from attacking white people to attacking all major employers of white people.
They hate industry. Together Louisiana is their state wide spin off. They've been protesting and fighting corporate expansions and industrial investment for a couple of years now.

I can't really understand how people don't see this group for what it really is.

Like it or not Exxon is a must for this area and while they will never leave they certainly can stop considering Baton Rouge for future investment.
But, shouldn't Exxon's future investments grow jobs in order to receive tax benefits? I am just playing devil's advocate. I thought it was interesting that we are rewarding companies with tax incentives when they are not growing jobs. At least per the article.
I thought the entire purpose of tax incentives was to grow jobs.

They are either idiots or trying to blackmail exxon. But, they are determined crazy liberals, so I'd go with just being stupid idiots.

I thought Exxon gave Gravy all that money for the black ball as a payoff for keeping these rabble rousers quiet.
Gravy's not holding up his end of the deal or he's not as influential as he led them to believe.

I mean, seriously. It's amazing that any major business would even consider coming to BR when TX is 150 miles away.

It’s not just the permanent jobs. When companies expand/build, they also reward milions of dollars for contract jobs not to mention paying sales tax on all of the material.

Just consider their efforts a solid reminder to GTFO of Baton Rouge as soon as you can. The majority of the parish population will never be productive and must live off of those who do produce. They are too stupid and simpleminded to understand that the well can dry up.
The takers are on the brink of total control and growing in numbers every day. And their ally in the Governor's office has set the table for them.

Not to mention that refineries are not cash cows. They generate extremely low net margin overall. People seem to think that Exxon would not leave, but it's not impossible. Imagine if Exxon bowed out and sold the complex cheap to a company like Alon or a small independent that couldn't hedge big losses or afford community outreach like Exxon. There would be mothballing and massive layoffs. It would be utterly devastating to BR, but it seems to be what these asshats want and deserve.

If I remember correctly, they are getting the 22% from gambling, but in all their wisdom, for every dollar gambling added to education, the law makers took a dollar away from other sources that were funding education.
They intentionally left a major loop hole in the law when they legalized gambling, in order to say gambling will be for education, making people think education will have more funding.

Yea I wonder how many of these Teachers and Together BR folks even realize that your Exxon's and big plants in S La are a big reason Turner, Performance, Cajun Valve, Cajun Constructors, Eaton, Set Point, AWC, AmSpec, AirGas, Grainger, Sochem(GEAUX TIGERS! ) and a ton of other contractors/suppliers are doing so well in the area AND paying a shitload of taxes?
