You should move back to Austin then. Life is too short

I came here with the intention of moving back to Austin. I came temporarily for work, it was an opportunity I couldn't pass up. I just talked with my boss 2 weeks ago informing him that I'd like to move back sooner rather than later. I'm hoping that by summer we can get things moving that direction.

Plus with the new rangers ballpark and entertainment district, Dallas will win again.

They should obviously do an entertainment district around it (works well in Atlanta), but it'll still be in a relatively shitty area 50 minutes (peak times, like most weeknight games) from the heart of Dallas.

But I do think Dallas is overall considerably better than Houston.

I'm talking about Jerry world vs NRG though

Ah, understood.

There is a long way to go, but the county seems to be starting to revitalize the Main Street side of NRG. Fannin and Kirby have nice residential apartments and office buildings, but the Main St. side has always been a mess. But coming up Main, from the med center, the improvement is moving toward 610. It will never be considered a "nice" part of town, despite Rice Village and West U being right there.

I’d rather not have to rent a car to watch a game.

I'm sure Houston would be thriving with the inner loop as its primary employee pool. Millenials, the wealthy, and bums.

Well... that’s where most of the wealth is concentrated even with the bums.

I don’t complain about the traffic bc I don’t experience too much. When i lived close to Katy, the commute was terrible

I live in Dallas and I like Houston

The "rivalry" is between people people who grow up in either Dallas or Houston IMO

You could never pay me enough to move to the burbs where you live. You must hang out in disgusting places.
Midtown, heights, river oaks, rice village, and downtown are far from dirty

I bet you are super fun to hang out with. I live inside the loop and it takes me less than 30 to get anywhere.

I'm not a kid anymore, I don't hang out anywhere. How would you draw the conclusion that I hang out in disgusting places when I'm sitting here bitching about how disgusting and dirty the city is?
My friends think I'm fun to hang out with, as does my family. That's all I give a shite about. I'm not accepting applications for new friends right now anyway.
Like I said, different strokes for different folks. I'm not a big city person and I don't particularly like crowded places.
I do what I enjoy and I have fun doing it. Fortunately, Houston actually does have a lot to offer in that realm and I take full advantage of it. Except when it's raining.

They’re similar in my opinion and I’m not trying to be a dick but I like being out of the hurricane zone. It’s all personal preference IMO, pros and cons to each.

Right, so your normal middle class family can't really live there. So we have the burbs. And I can get a SHITTON of house in the Houston and Dallas burbs for a similar monthly expense as that 2 BR inner loop apartment. I also get really good school districts my kids can attend for free. And though I really hate my burb (Pearland), I'm generally 20-30 minutes from anything there.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to live in the loop. But it won't be until kids are gone. Living their requires either wealth, or the lack of kids.
