re: Why is LeBron vs. Jordan even a debate?

Hell I've even said Lebron is probably the second greatest player ever, though I think you could make an argument for Magic, Kobe or Kareem as well.
I love Wilt and Russell, but they dominated in an era with very few teams, where post play as a whole was garbage and nearly everyone they went against them was 4-6 inches shorter.

Skip Bayless makes his triumphant entrace to the thread!
Posted on 7/29/17 at 9:04 am to Roger Klarvin
Kareem won 6 titles like MJ AND he won 6 league MVPs which MJ doesn't have AND is the NBA's all-time leading scorer AND was a dominant player in the league over the course of 17 straight seasons.

You really must be Raymond Babbitt. You have now called everyone who disagrees with you Skip Bayless.
What's so bad is you know basically nothing about Bayless to call somebody that. If you want to insult someone based on facts and disagreements use the LA Times or the Denver Post sports editorial/opinion writers.

I know Skip Bayless likes to take retarded positions on sports topics and continuously calls LeGOAT the "frozen one" and invokes the 2011 Finals every chance he gets as if it's some decisive point in a LeGOAT argument.

They are one- two but it's still not even close. .
MJ is the GOAT, but go watch videos of games he played. He was the best out there but it wasn't mythical. There were guys playing during his time that were right there with him. Yet, his hyper train has got to the point to saying the second best player "isn't even close"
It's absurd the level of marketing masterminds behind MJ

Whereas when Wilt played, the only player who could possibly approach him in ANYTHING was Bill Russell in rebounds because Wilt's scoring average routinely exceeded the runner up by a 10+ margin. There were seasons when Wilt would record 24-24 averages at age 30+, literally insane. You talk about blowing away the curve, the Big Dipper destroyed the curve so thoroughly it was essentially the equivalent of him playing on all-pro level in a video game and the opponent on rookie. Compared to the mean of player production in his era, no one, with exception of Jim Brown and Don Hutson, dominated a sport like Wilt Chamberlain.

What I feel people don't give LeBron enough credit for is his consistency and constant ability to elevate his production in the playoffs when the stakes are highest, obvious exception of 2011 Finals. LeBron's 27-7-7 career average is no phantom average, he consistently records these types of numbers year after year after year with almost no deviation it's practically clockwork. Come playoff time LeBron has a career average of 28-9-7 in the postseason roughly duplicating his career regular season average. His lowest playoff production #s: 2011-24-8-6 which isn't too bad bc the Finals definitely diminished what his scoring output would have been and, like a fine wine, LeBron's playoff performances continue to elevate as he ages. Age 32, he averaged 33-9-8 in the playoffs and the first Finals triple-double average, sick.

Only three players ever have had the ability to literally score at will: Wilt, Shaq and MJ. When they really wanted it, they scored or went to the FT line. Period. There was nothing you could do about it.
With Wilt it was because of when he played and who it was against
With Shaq, he couldn't hit the FTs once you put him on the line
Jordan got to name his point total on any given night. If he wanted 42, he was gonna score 42.
Yes, he was THAT good. The man averaged nearly 40 PPG in an NBA season as a wing player. He averaged 42 a game in a Finals series while the opposition essentially ignored every other player on the court except he and Pippen.

You forgot LeGOAT, Roger

So the what you are really saying here is that is that 49% (1-his efg%) of the time Jordan didn't really want to score. How can some one be the GOAT if they don't even really care enough to try barely more than half the time?
The obvious point here is that your arguments are fricking dumb. Like super dumb.

Disagree.
There are a plethora of guys who flat out get buckets.

It is a debate (although pointless) because I didn't know which side you were taking before I clicked.

Not sure why this thread is still going. There is no comparison between MJ and Lebron for anyone who saw MJ play, which I think don't post on the MSB.

Game 6 of the 98 finals is on NBATV. Oh my god it's such a pushoff

Umm not if they don't call it

Lol so Jordan isn't great because of one push off but Lebron uses a stiff arm 90% of the time he drives the lane and that's ok? Lmao you Lebron worms are priceless clowns who no zilch about basketball. You worship an overgrown crybaby who's not only overrated but is also a huge d-bag. These last few years are going to be hilarious watching you ppl come up with new excuses for him losing every year.

I'm a LeGOAT fanboy and I acknowledge that while MJ pushed off Russell, the refs didn't call it and that's basketball. MJ converted the shot, MJ finished with 45 points that night, MJ won another championship. For the rest of eternity, that's what history will record and the haters will attempt to discredit that. As an astute researcher of NBA and NFL history, I kinda prefer that shouldve been our final memory of MJ as a basketball player because he played 12 and 1/4 seasons and advanced to 6 title series and won those 6 titles and their MVPs. BUT he decided to return as a declining 38 year old with dual GM responsibilities and couldn't even lead his handpicked team to a playoff berth. That certainly didn't help his legacy and almost predicted his ineptitude as an NBA executive, hell it might've diminished it. I mean, Brett Favre returned as a 40 year old QB with Minnesota and led them to the NFC title game and the exalted MJ couldn't even lead the Wiz to the playoffs?! Hell, before Scottie and Horace MJ couldn't even lead the Bulls past the first round of the NBA playoffs while Magic and Bird were leading their teams to the Finals. Before that Phil Jackson/Tex Winter system was executed, MJ was just a great fantasy stat guy and nothing else. You know who else achieved as such and never won anything? David Thompson(MJ's idol) and George Gervin. Point being, MJ's legacy would've likely remained superior had he just retired after the 1998 season-6 in 12 seasons with those accolades is incredible.
