Anybody else seriously considered moving out of the BR area or Louisiana? I've lived in LA all my life. The north shore, NOLA and BR.

The little one about to start school in a couple years got me thinking. $5- $10K a year for a decent school!? And bad roads!?

Made me start to think about the big picture more than I ever have.

Texas is miles ahead of LA in almost every aspect with respect to standard of living for a family. If my in-laws weren't here now, I'd relocate my family as well.

Nashville is also an intriguing area. LA has nothing to offer outside of the excellent cuisine and outdoors as far as I'm concerned. I can find stuff to do outdoors almost anywhere though. LA is leaving a terrible taste in my mouth with the constant budget shortfalls, shitty infrastructure, and increasing crime rates.

Lived inTexas for about 5 years. Moved back two years ago for another opportunity.

It's nice being back. Although my kids aren't quite school aged yet so I can't relate yet to your dilemma.

surely you mean Northshore public schools.

The fact Louisiana's state public universities cost anything is abysmal considering their sub-mediocre education

You shouldn't have to pay for decent or even good schools if you live in a good area.

Do what is best for you and your family.

Moving to another state from your home state is nothing new. People from every state in the U.S. do it for a multitude of reasons.

I always recommend that people move outside their bubble, at least for a little while.

If you don't like where you moved or you miss home, you can always go back.

It is fricking sad that as much money comes through our ports that we are last or second to last in anything in this state.

I am also seriously considering leaving as well

We have a large, close family. If not for them, I'd be gone. I almost left before kids and couldn't do it after. As for now, Ascension schools are strong and my wife and I both have good jobs.

Haven't lived in La since I got out of college.

Lived on both coasts and now live in Texas.

I love visiting La but every time I'm there I'm glad I don't have to live there.

I'm close to La now and can visit more often but Texas is pretty awesome right now.

Come on down to the H-Town. And you're only a 4 hour drive from the 225.
