What is a acceptable record for Coach Ed Orgeron this year?

I would say 10-3. He will likely lose to Alabama and Florida because they are road games. He could easily lose to Tennessee since we would be playing in Rocky Top in late November when weather conditions might not favor us.

However, we get Auburn, Arkansas and Texas A&M at home. Ed should be pumped up for his visit to Ole Miss and if he cannot beat Miss State and BYU then we are in trouble.

If we are 9-3 and third in the west we should get to a mid tier bowl game which he needs to win, I would say.

He can go tops 9-4 but anything lower than that and we are in serious trouble with him as a HC.

If he goes 11-2 beating either Florida or TN on the road, I would say he is impressive.

Miles winning 9 wasnt good enough so why would it be for O? Must win 10 or more or what was the point?

So we fired Les Miles who got heat for winning 9 regular season games for a guy that we argue it is acceptable to win 9 games. Glad we made that move.

This.

11 is great. 10 is good. 9 is floor, but concerning. Anything less is a disaster of a hire.

Unfortunately for O, his predecessor was fired for merely under-performing with elite talent. O does not have the typical rebuild scenario. He was handed the keys to a Porsche, so he has a very small window.

I expect him to win the west (and then the SEC by default). There, I said it. But if he falls short of that goal, I would only cut him slack if Bama was his only loss.

Anything less than 10 wins should be considered "hot seat" territory.

Not winning 9 games was not the only reason Miles caught heat!

He needs to do better than Miles would have. Usually 9 wins or thereabouts. The program is in good shape, there is plenty of talent, good recruiting class.

You do realize that Miles had a far better record than Ed O as a head coach when he was hired. You do realize, Miles has the highest winning percentage as a LSU head coach, has as many National Championship, BCS/Playoff bowl wins, Conference championships than any other coach in school history. That includes Nick Saban.

Miles is gone. We can not compare Miles and O.

This post either doesn't make sense or there is a typo in it that makes it not make sense.

We realize all of that, but Orgeron wasn't handed over the keys to the program to be as good as Miles was at his worst - he was given the job to get the program back to an elite level. Anything less and he is failing by both his own and the program's standards.

I think the truth is that we hired a coach that lowers people's expectations of the program. That's a dangerous game we're playing and if O doesn't jump out of the box and produce, we may find ourselves in a Tennessee-type of situation where our best days are found in yesteryear.

Despite all my misgivings, I think it is acceptable for Orgeron to get 10 wins as long as one of those wins is against Alabama.

10 and part of what got Miles in hot water was the style of play....O can't repeat that mistake.

It's a rebuilding year and we play 5 SEC road games. Our cross division teams are Florida and Tennessee.

10-2 would be great
9-3 would be good
8-4 and he better win 10 next year
