Trades like this just reinforce the idea that teams in the East have no interest in getting better until LeBron leaves. Could no one in the conference put together a better package?

Lavine was a 3rd option, put up 19/3/3 while shooting 46/39/84.

Dunn and 7 are potential.

Is that better than #3, Crowder, and Smart? Probably
Is that better than Love+trash? Yes

There's not many teams that close to contending and has assets in the East. Washington isn't giving up Beal or Wall. Toronto is in a funky spot.

The Wolves have a good core but even minus Butler I thought they should have been better than they have been the past year or two

Yeah. Well they only won 29 games 2 seasons ago, and 31 last season--so obviously it's not hard to build up from there.

The problem is Wiggins. He was still below average, in his third season, and has made only minimal improvements. For a player who played the 2nd most minutes in the league over the past 3 seasons (first last year), he's taken up a lot of minutes and has used a lot of possessions for mediocre results.

Obviously, Butler is a huge win for them, but I think they would be wise to get rid of Wiggins and find someone who better compliments Butler.

We'll just agree to disagree. I don't think what he did last season was any sort of representation of the player he will become. And quite frankly, the type of player he really is at this point in time either. Granted he's not 19, he's also not 30... 35. He's 23. Depending on what they do with Rondo, if he's gone, we'll get to see what kind of player he truly is... and imo, it's no where near what we saw last season.

Meh. It's at best a wash, but #3, Crowder, and Smart are still probably better.

Unless you are going off of potential and salary consideration, Love himself has far more value than Lavine+Dunn.

Love doesn't have more value for a rebuilding team than the Minnesota package. Now the 3rd pick Boston had made that potential match at least tempting. That said given the young talent they got back in return, and a big factor in trading him out of the East, the Wolves package was the best for me.

But now he's likely on an even worse team. He was clearly the third worst point guard. Now I think your optimism would be more warranted if they got Tyus Jones instead. He's younger, and has shown more promise.

He's a year removed from being a top 5 pick. How quick do we forget the type of comps he was getting just a year ago.

Jonny Flynn was also the 5th pick for MIN, that worked out well

Wiggins shot like 46% and had 24 ppg in a season that was not very good for him. I don't think you want to give up a guy like that on a rookie contract who is in his early 20s.

They were, but there were younger teams, and younger teams who were better. Granted this is from early in season, but it should still hold pretty true. They were the 18th youngest going by the average age on the roster, but the 6th youngest distributed by minutes (below). And Portland, Utah, and Milwaukee were all playoff teams and younger.

Rubio just isn't a Tom T type player and is so limited on offense. I thought the kid form nc state may fall to them he was taken earlier than expected and it wouldn't surprise me to see Rose end up there too. What's with all the Wiggins hate? Dude is awaesome and rare as a two way player he's also as good an athlete as there is in the league very coach able and has put up very good numbers for his age. He's on the cusp of being a premiere wing.

Wow, Ainge hasn't breathed a stupid breath in his life but it looks like he could have probably got Butler without selling the farm. Maybe the Bulls just didn't want to give him to the C's. I think the Celtics with Butket and Heyward would have a real shot. But as a Celtics fan I know it's best to be patient.

Their bench is awful and they don't have a 4 worth a damn plus guys like Rubio and Lavine arnt what TomT wants. I expected more but they were in a lot of games they lost and from the looks of it are getting a major face lift.

The TWolves got Jimmy Buckets for Zach Lavine, Lauri Markannen, and Kris Dunn, and only had to move down 9 spots in the draft.

I mean what the frick Chicago?

Yup. Incompetent af. Frittered away golden opportunities to be truly relevant the past few years, Rose notwithstanding.

They've had terrible injury luck with top 3 drafted PG's....from Jay Williams to Rose which shattered their window they had
