Are people honestly arguing that the difficulty of the US Open isnt what has set it apart over its long history?
That's the point we aren't dealing with those of us who want to keep the standards of the TOUGHEST golf tournament on earth. No we want Zurich Open scores because watching pros struggle to make par is boring.

You are not only condescending but ignorant now. It's coming across as you and you alone is the authority on the USGA. It's a bad look

USGA couldn't control is the weather and the course was wet.
So this is the only time the US Open was played under "wet" conditions? This arguemnt trying to justify the bellow facts is really just silly at this point.

31 players under par. A Clear record for an Open by a long shot.
11 players finished -8 or lower. Open record by a long long shot.
Its the course. All the hand waving about the weather is just that. Did it make the course, even more, player friendly than if it were dry? Of course it did but the course was already player friendly to begin with.
Just hope the USGA learns from this.

I can promise you those who have actually been apart of the USGA in the past are fricking embarrassed by this past weekend. Honestly, the scores don't reflect the intention of the US Open. Condescending, no im just in the face of those that applaud the USGA for not doing their job.

I wonder how much TV ratings influence the USGA when it comes to course selection and course setup?
Fox needs all the help they can get. Just a guess on my part, but I bet Fox prefers a winning score of -16 at Erin Hills to say +2 at Oakmont.

Congressional?

But the winning score wasn't +2 at Oakmont

Congressional?
2 players -8 or under compared to 11 at Erin Hills.
7 players from Erin Hills would have finished higher than the 2nd place finisher at Congressional. 11 players would have equaled or surpassed the 2nd place finisher.

Today's winner was 1 stoke/day better than last years at Oakmont. And conditions were soft.
I don't see what the big deal is here.

This is the type of morons I'm forced to deal with here
Now just frick off

Who says the baseline is even par? Nobody, including the USGA. If this golf wasn't exciting, I don't know what to tell you. I personally enjoyed watching these players bomb it off the tee and not having to hack it out sideways when they missed a fairway. To each his own.

You don't understand the difference between strokes and score relative to par. You're the moron in this situation, you mouthbreathing retard.

DJ finished at 276, Koepka 272....

Gents why do you continue to lie about scores and history. Furthermore if FOX doesn't like the product then don't bid on it?

Uh what?
2nd place at Congressional was 276. Same as today.
8 players in 2011 were under 280.
8 players in 2017 were under 280.

So what makes the US Open unique compared to other non majors if thats the direction its heading? That's the whole point of the thread.
I enjoy watching that type of golf as well but the US Open is supposed to differentiate itself, and has through its history, by being a brutal, unforgiving tourney.

So strokes are "equal" from course to course now?

Let's recap.
You can't spell the most notable course in Florida.
You don't know the name of the PGA Tour stop in Louisiana.
You don't know how scores relative to par can differ from year to year.
You incorrectly assumed I'd never been a part of or attended a "traditional" US Open.

Of course I do but you're not going to discredit me here. Name calling without bringing factual information makes you another lackey on the board just trying to compensate for your misunderstanding of the history at the US Open.
Again, 31 players under par and that's suppose to be completely ignored for the ratings. Go fish.

I suggest you brush up on your reading comprehension skills.
On second thought, it's probably a lost cause.
