Harrison Ford is great as Han Solo and Indy ... and nothing else.

Beautiful leading women are a thing of the past. Jennifer Lawrence has a puffy country face and her acting is overrated. Anne Hathaway is ugly. Amy Adams is just decent. Hermione needs some curves. scarlet johanson is hot but not beautiful. these women would have been laughed at in the 50's and 60's by directors.

1. All of those women are beautiful.

2. They are all much better actresses than the tits with mouths from the 60s.

I'm sure he leaves a lot of money on the table doing it, but he certainly makes enough and will have an enduring legacy because of it.

I thought Manchester by the Sea was the most overrated movie I have seen in a while. After reading on this board that it was a "masterpiece" and "amazing", plus the ton of acclaim it received nationally, I was looking forward to watching it.

I understand that it is a character study and not in a typically movie format. But seriously, it is just two and half hours of depressed Casey Affleck and his annoying ginger of nephew. That kid was just the worst ! And then of course in typical modern "great movie awesomeness" it just sort of ends, and you're left saying "well...o.k. then ?"

Hollywood loves movies like this that are not typical and want you to feel like you just don't get it if you didn't like it....I got it, and it was crap !

It was labeled as "the most depressing movie ever"...I don't know but I get more depressed watching "This is Us" on NBC more than from this movie.

Michelle Williams was supposed to be "SOOOO AMAZING!" in this movie...she was on screen literally 10 minutes, and the confrontation scene that was supposed to be all the rage was just a slobbery apology.

the one scene of Affleck in a police station was truly a powerful scene. The rest of it is a kid scoring with girls he would never have a chance to score with in real life. The writer must have written himself into this role and decided to fulfill his long lost high school dreams.

People will hate to admit this on this board in fear of being told to "go watch Conair" or some other lame response, but you know what, I will go watch Conair because that was a solid flick (another unpopular opinion for this topic)

1. The Soundtrack is a lost art, both in compilations of music and in instrumental compositions/film scores.

2. For Scores this is mainly because of Hans Zimmer and his acolytes. Hans Zimmer used to be great (Crimson Tide, Gladiator, even Broken Arrow has an awesome score). Atticus Ross, Reznor, Jackman, all of the new "Moody Electronic Music" folks have ruined everything.

3. 98% of Actors an Actresses are mediocre, but given the "public" nature of their profession, they "seem" to be better than they are. Most actors play small variations of their own self. The truly talented, who can adopt whole new personas, are extremely rare.

4. Actors/Actresses not in that 2% - Tom Hanks, Johnny Depp, Glen Close, Anthony Hopkins, Morgan Freeman, etc.

5. Horror (and its subgenres) is, and probably always will be, the genre that is the most flexible and most creative. This is because their goal, that of fear, awe, etc., is the most visceral. This often means that the genre has the most variation in quality. The best of the best horrors are legitimately some of the best movies, while the worst of the worst....are the absolute dreck of film.

6. Remakes are not that bad, like ANYTHING else, just don't watch it. As much as I dislike the idea of Ghostbusters, the Ape movies have been a near-revelation in solid, big-budget adventure films.

7. Same with Superhero films. There are dozens of bad romantic comedy films every year. And even action films, drama films, etc. 2-4 Superhero movies yearly are a blip on the radar of usually 130ish films released in major theaters every year.

8. With that said, Superhero films are basically the new Sword and Sandal Epic. The fad will go away in time......

9. ...And the most likely killer of the Superhero film will be the resuscitation of the Action Film, currently in progress. If Keanu with John Wick, Cruise with his various roles, etc. can continue making aggressive, fun, self-aware action films they will end up in a stronger position.

10. We'll never see another wide release hand drawn animated film, and that's sad. I like the CGI films for story, but there is often something very sterile about the presentation. The emotional impact of Toy Story movies are blunted by the visual presentation.

11. However, there are three CGI films that transcend that - Wall-E, Up, and Ratatouille. Pixar's three best films.

12. With that said, the closest Pixar film to old school Disney films is actually Ratatouille.

14. The Director's Cut of Kingdom of Heaven is an amazing film. Like Top 30-40 all time. The theatrical cut is yes, mediocre.
