So you're saying there is a viable plan that could be enacted today that keeps the ACA's protections for people with pre-existing conditions, doesn't remove lifetime caps, and costs people less than the ACA does?

Cause if they pass something that doesn't do all that, there will be a democratic tide in 18 that will make 94 look like a gentle ripple.

Other than high risk policies...what do you suggest?

1. replace ACA with Medicare. you cut costs 5% off the top when you eliminate BC/BS and use Medicare instead.
That will end insurance companies for all but the blue chip stock coupon people.

2. federal medical schools. we do not have enough family practice MDs.
Holland has twice the MDs per capita as we do. They make half what ours do.
see any correlation?

3. Tort reform. that will reduce insurance costs for malpractice. the cost savings will be passed on to the consumer.

One of Pierce's gifts is the nicknames he comes up with for lawmakers.

Right. Obama knew this and it's why he shoved it through without reading the bill. It's one of the benefits for Dems. Spend and put out shite bills knowing they can't be taken away because no entitlement can ever be taken away.

Hell, I would expect a housing for everyone bill to be run out there at some point in the future by the dems.

There's apparently an endless supply of money available.

Look, I pay $750/month for premiums, my company pays more than I do.

Let's call that total $1500/month to make this math easy

On top of that, I put $3500 in an HSC every year

So, annually, that's over $20,000/yr being spent on covering myself and my family just on premiums.

I still have to pay $3600 out of pocket before I can even use it... then I still have to pay 20% beyond that up to my annual out of pocket max.

So, that's roughly $25000/yr in cost between me and my employer every year before I can even use my insurance. This is a group plan for one of the largest companies in the world.

My wife and I are in the top 4% of household income nationally.

How is a median income family... hard working folks, supposed to afford to buy their own plan that doesn't come close to the benefits that my group plan covers? How are lower class people supposed to do it?

You're telling me that it wouldn't just be easier to tax everyone and their employers and have single payer than all this bullshite?

Every other civilized country in the world is wrong about this and we're the only ones who are right?

Btw... I have Canadian coworkers. They all love their Healthcare. Those who want "Cadillac" coverage above their benefits, who can afford it, just buy it. They can afford it because their basic needs and catastrophic coverage is taken care of. Just like the OT ballers could buy concierge care here if they don't want to have to sit next to the poors in the waiting room.

End of the day, we're just delaying the inevitable. There will be single payer in the US inside of 10 years. Down vote away, but it's coming.

I think RoadGator needs his safe space. Go away, Celtic Dog! You're not wanted in here!

There. Are we ok now, RoadGator? You don't need to be afraid anymore.

That's right. If Breitbart isn't the source, it must be fake.

I really want to believe this, but unfortunately it's not going to be that easy to just do away with all of the health insurance companies.

I can see a day where there is a public option that eventually becomes a better alternative than most private health insurance plans, and thus drives more of them out of business.
