And maybe that is what is getting people so confused-- the fact that you really can't cut Ajinca, Asik, or QPon right now

But I am pretty confident all three will be gone this summer. In fact, I would say that Casspi still has a better chance to be on the roster next year than any of those three individually. But they need bodies right now. If he was out two weeks, they might have kept him. But him playing 6 or 7 games, maybe, has no value this season

Yes. There is definitely roster anger simmering below the surface

Why can't we cut Qpon? Serious inquiry, I don't know why we can't.

I also don't believe there's anything stopping them from signing Casspi to a minimum when he's healthy if they cut one of the 10 day guys.

As long they handled talking about this the right way with Cousins and Casspi I'm sure it will be fine. They must like Hollis Thompson though, because a young guy that doesn't know the system probably won't be useful anytime soon either.

Because he's got one more year on his contract.

Am I crazy, or can't we resign him if he gets healthy? I'm nervous like everyone else about the long term, but short term did we really lose anything other than maybe perceived control?

That is part of the issue right now: there is no system for playing like this.

Vet, rookie, whatever, no team has tried to play w/ 2 dominant, skilled, high usage bigs like Davis/Cousins. Doesn't mean it cant work, but it's uncharted waters

He's pretty much out for the year and his contract is expiring. It's not that bad.

There may be other long term factors at play here. Let's just wait and see.

there could be but we don't know that for sure. So using that as your basis of why it's no big deal is using hypotheticals as facts

MAJOR factor? You obviously either go to the top shelf with words on everything or don't understand them. Literally nothing major happened here

I was hoping you were lurking. I saw your post about people just screaming bird rights and wanted to see if I could pull you in

ETA: I just upvoted myself

Right. I should have added that for better context

Days of just tossing it down low are over. Moving players, the ball, and the defense to get to a desired post up is great.

But illegal defense rule change makes good passing out of the post a vital skill. And places a premium on guys who can shoot/create effectively off those passes

No we don't know that but I also don't think they were like "frick this Omri dude, let's cut his bitch arse" without weighing all the factors short and long term

you obviously have not been following the pels long. That is the most likely scenario with this FO

Exactly. People just assuming they didn't talk to Casspi, Cousins, and their agent before they made this decision are just dumb and are assuming things that aren't true

Didn't MM say Casspi's cap hold was 5.6 million, so that's 5.6 against the cap?

The reason having Jrue's rights is a plus is you are going to spend more than 16.9 mill on him so it's essentially free cap space for the difference between actually signing him and 16.9. Am I not understanding that correctly?

Casspi at 5.6 against the cap isn't saving us space. These players still take up room against the cap even with bird rights. Maybe I misread that number somewhere idk.
