The only issue is that portions of my finances are taken and allocated for some of this stuff, making it my problem. No one should be OK with that.

I was at Lejeune for 7 years. My wife had zero problems finding work there.

Not a bad policy. Unseen in this is that the indirect compensation like childcare really benefits the NCO/Junior SNCO's. If you want to make officers pay and issue some order barring parents under E4 you'd probably save a large chunk of money. Short of raising pay though, indirect benefits like the CDC are vital to maintaining a healthy NCO population, and a healthy E5-E6 population is probably our second biggest edge (outside of tech) over potential threats.

Correct. My wife and I make over 125k a year and struggle financially with our 2 kids.
If you live in the south and you're having problems at 125k you're doing it wrong.

Most people run into issues because they push too far on big debt.

1800 vs 2000sf house is pretty significant. I can design an 1800 with virtually no wasted space 3 bedroom, 2 bath very nice house. The 2000sf will often have 100-150sf of nothing but hall.

Mine has 22. 100sf x $120 = about $100 a month on a 30 year mortgage. By the time you add the other savings for a bit less, more efficient square footage that's most of a college education.

And that was just one thing

Lots of bad negative post, deployed military members should have their spouse and dependents taking care of while the member is in a combat zone. Welfare and immigrants lazy asses get more funds than active duty members for food allowance. Any program we can give them help them financially is a positive.

7 years straight? If so, not the norm.

Many don't have issues, but to pretend that the job market loves military spouses, and that the jobs they occupy are compatible with maintaining separate day care and the op tempo isn't reality.

I won't say its doom and gloom for spouses, but a great retention device for E4-E6 is daycare service.

Better yet, let's get rid of all handouts.

Anyone could say this about anything that the gov't does that they disagree with politically/socially/economically. Such is life. I understand your point but... it is what it is.

They can say whatever they like. Intent is not the same.

I fail to see how not being able to hire additional workers means they can't still operate just not take anymore children. However, it appears they are so incompetent that it's probably best to just get rid of all of them and start the program over.

bullshite, most people care more about living outside of their means.

My wife doesn't work, I make less than DoubleDown and his wife, have 3 kids and we live just fine. Too many people think they deserve a better lifestyle than they can afford.

Yep. Lejeune is full of military families that "need" brand new Yukon Denali XLs to take their kids to free daycare.

I find this hard to believe unless your living above your means.

You know how many dealers I had to talk to because junior Marines bought a new Camaro and couldn't afford shite for their kids? It's ridiculous to pretend that military family members have anyone buy themselves to blame for financial problems.

The funny thing is when they buy a car where they can just afford the note and don't realize that their 19 year old asses are going to be paying $250 a month for insurance on top of it.

Had a kid buy an M3 after one of our deployments. He actually accounted for the insurance. Nice car, but he literally couldn't afford gas to drive it anywhere.

Stop having fricking kids you can't afford.

Is personally responsibility that hard of a concept to grasp?

My 31yo brother just did this. Sometimes it seems the only thing he gained from the army was mental issues and a cuddle buddy (him and his best friend got caught spooning each other by their co).
