That's the whole point of this damn thread. They've made it much harder to shoot a doe now.

Ho lee shite. There is an easy solution to all of this. If you have or lease 500 acres or more, join DMAP. If you own less, we successfully lobbied for and got the landowner assistance program which allows smaller landowners to do the same. Now, you can shoot a doe whenever the hell you want.

No. You're going to pull your arm out the socket reaching that far. I've seen a couple bucks this year I didn't shoot.

You "4.5 year old or more" people have an incredible talent for sucking the fun out of hunting. Just because I don't want to shoot something doesn't mean someone else shouldn't be glad to.

The easiest solution is to go shoot a fricken doe. Frick a Doe day, frick dmap. You can barely drive safely for risking hitting a deer. Kill one. Phuket. Just don't get caught. Or better yet, get a tag from a dmap club. Badabing.

Sure I could just "go shoot a doe" and not get caught on my private land but what about it on the ride on the Hwy to where I clean and process them? How do I explain that to green jeans?

On your private land you don't have to shoot does if you don't want. No reason to have the state step in and say no killing of does.

The lease I'm currently in is no does, so you know what happens... It comes to the point where people want meat, so if it has horns it's down.

With all the information and research out there today about buck to doe ratio how could the lease members come to the conclusion to not shoot does? Sounds like a bunch of old men that you would hear back in the 80s comparing the deer herd to their cow herd and how if you shot the mama cows you wouldn't have any calves. They had no idea about carrying capacity and the tendency of old does to run off young bucks from their territory.

I like these threads. It's like every single camp that has young people and old people. The old people don't want anything to change and the young people want to change up everything.

The older ones enjoy it and usually always have meat in the freezer and the younger ones do nothing but complain about the older people

Another debate that's all relative to where you are hunting. There is not a right answer. 186 acres of wooded land in Ms we kill 4 doe per year, only 2.5 year old bucks for kids 3.5 for adults. My neighbors blast away. Not one bit of science involved, it's just what works for us. We always kill 2 or 3 nice bucks every year.

Lease in Henry County Tn. 480 acres of crop land, maybe 80 acres of woods total. We kill 40 doe and that's never enough. Wish I knew how to post pics to show what it looks like at times on this place.

Are these doe days applied by the club? In area 2 on all private land, does can be taken at any time, per the tagging system. The only doe days I know of left are on public land.

I shoot a doe whenever I want (which is not very often because I just can't shoot one with babies playing around it).

From what I've been told its been this way since the 80s, so my guess is it will continue to be bucks only till the end. Worse part is they run dogs too, and as someone that has run dogs before I know you dont get enough time to check for horns.. You ground check then see what it is after the fact.

Not to mention, only about 5% of these hunters are able to accurately tell a 3.5 yr old deer from a 4.5 yr old deer.

It's amazing how so many people get to be professional biologists by watching Jeff Foxworthy's hunting show on Sunday mornings in the summer.

We ran dogs for years and still managed our herd. It takes a little more patience but it can be done. We killed most of our does during the still season so we didn't accidentally shoot button bucks and then shot "three on one side" for our bucks.

We need to organize a lease together.
