I feel like one thing that's hot right now but won't last is ceramic tile that looks like wood. I think granite is approaching that point.

Also, just browsing real estate listings, was there ever a time worse for house design than the late 60's to early 80's? Holy crap that era's houses are aweful. Especially ranch style houses with low pitch roofs.

Actually shag carpet and ranch houses are back in style.

And if you think the faux cookie cutter houses of today are better you are mistaken. This shite nowadays is disposable architecture.

Don't ask the OT. You'll get people like Gaston telling you what is cool. Then you'll see pics of his house and laugh your arse off.

Builder grade granites. There are plenty of granites that aren't dated looking, though I still prefer quartzite and marble.

Oil rubbed bronze fixtures

"hand-scraped" engineered wood floors

JPEG tile flooring.

Cedar columns and cedar or pine soffit is trendy right now and will look like crap in no time

sack washed bricks

colored mortar eventually loses like 80% of it's color

stained flooring and patios

Cultured marble though it's been dated and isn't used at all much anymore

trey ceilings

Everything that is trendy will look dated.

Classic looks never go out of style.

Not arguing this point but the current trend of crazily chopped up roofs will date current architecture.

Not necessarily trendy, but certainly still in many homes today... giant garden tubs.
